The next morning I woke up before Sarah for a change and clicked on my phone to check the time: 10:15. Sarah looked so comfy I didn't want to move so I just lay there for a bit. She got up at 10:30.
"Hey babe." I said. She smiled and then yawned.
"Hi," she said. She got up out of bed and picked up the shirt that I had been wearing the day before and put it on like a dressing gown over her tank vest pyjama top thing. She ran her hand through her hair.
"It's all wet outside." she said, peering out the window. The street was full of puddles.
"It's from the storm." I said.
"No shit Sherlock." she said, rolling her eyes and smiling.
"Don't swear, it's a family residence." I said. "Jesse might hear you, and that's the kind of the thing I wouldn't want her repeating." she laughed.
"Jesse's a dog." she said.
"No shit Sherlock." I said.
Downstairs Mum was sitting at the table with Dad drinking coffee.
"Morning loves."
"Morning Mum."
"Do you want a coffee?" she asked. Sarah nodded.
"Yes please, milky with 2 sugars." she said, smiling. She was trying to make a good impression on my parents, it was sweet how much she cared.
"You know how I have mine." I said. Mum smiled.
"Yep, I still know." she called.
"Were you two up late last night?" asked Dad. Sarah gave me the smallest possible nudge and I tried not to laugh.
"No, we slept like logs from about 11." I said. Sarah bit her lip.
"Yeah, best nights sleep I'd had in ages." she said. Mum came back in.
"So who was that hyperactively laughing until like 3am?" asked Mum, flicking her eyebrows up. Sarah took her mug and drank some.
"Brad." she said. I made a face.
"What?" I said.
"He gets really hyper at night." said Sarah. I started laughing.
"Yeah I do, it was the storm, it made me hyper." I said. Sarah started to laugh as well. Mum shook her head.
"I'll never understand you two." she said.
"I don't understand him either." said Sarah.
"Hey, you can't side against me, your meant to be on my side." I said. She smiled.
"I don't think we're up to much today," said Mum. "Just staying in so you can watch a film or something."
"Yeah, we might just do that then.'' I said. Sarah nodded.
"The living room is all yours." said Mum. We went in and Jesse was lying on the floor.
"Hey Jesse," said Sarah, stroking her. I started rummaging through the DVDs that we had.
"Wanna watch 21 Jump Street?" I said. She nodded.
"Yeah," she said, yawning.
"You look tired."
"Yeah, staying up till 3 has downsides." she said. I put the movie on and she sat beside me, I wrapped my arm around her. She fell asleep leaning on my shoulder within minutes. I got to about halfway through when my own eyes began to close...
