It had been 3 months since I'd seen Sarah. We were going back to England because the tour was nearly finished but first we had one last show to do. We'd been recording the album as we went and it was gonna be released soon. I wish Sarah had been there in studio cuz I know she would have loved it.
Anyway, I woke up on the last day of the tour feeling a bit sad because it would be over and then I'd go home and have to live by myself again because Sarah had chosen to move away from me. That still stung.
When I got out of the bunk Connor was asleep on the sofa and Tris was drawing a moustache on his face. James was filming.
"Connors absolutely ecstatic about our final show," said James.
"He's been bouncing off the walls," said Tristan, putting the finishing touches to the new facial hair.
"And look, it's Brad, hey Brad." said James. I waved at the camera.
"Good morning everyone," I said. Then Connor woke up.
"Look who's awake," said Connor. Me Tris and James were all laughing at him.
"What?" he asked.
"Mate, you might wanna go and look in the mirror," said James. We could hear him laughing from here. He came back.
"I saw no noticeable difference." he said calmly, sitting down. I started laughing.
"So you just happen to have the best moustache ever?" I asked. He nodded.
"You guys are just jealous cuz you can't grow a super sexy moustache." he said.
"OI Tamara!" he called. "Don't I look way sexier with a moustache?" She laughed.
"Tooooootally." she said. "I'm gonna dump James and marry you." James mocked being hurt and Connor preened his new facial hair.
"Them three," said Tris affectionately.
"Get you being all old man," I said. Then Selma came in.
"Connor, what have you done to your face? Go and wash it off." she said. He made a sad face at us as he disappeared to the sink.
"As for the rest of you, The Jam Jars are busy so you need to do the soundcheck. And quite a few fans are waiting for you so be prepared for that," she smiled to herself.
"How many is 'quite a few'?" asked James but she just waved and left.
"That was weird," I said.
"Maybe she's hiding something?" asked Con. We soon saw what it was.
Outside there was so many people, like queue after queue of screaming fans and unfortunate parents.
"Brad come here!"
"Brad sign this!"
"Brad I love you!"
"Over here Brad!"
The boys had the same amount of screams as me and we spent the next 45 minutes taking photos and signing things and just saying hi. It was quite humbling, some of these girls had travelled miles and miles just to say hello and hope to see us.
In the end we were man handled through the crowds by security, while girls screamed and grabbed our clothes and hair. When we got into the studio I just stood there, kind of taking it in.
"That was a little strange," said James. Connor just shook his head and said nothing.
"Wow," I said. Tris nodded.
Sound check was relatively normal, but Connors mic went a bit squeaky at the beginning. We used Girls On TV as the rehearsal track as it was Tamara's favourite.
"Ok guys, head over to wardrobe. One hour till showtime so keep up the speed." shouted Selma. In wardrobe they put me in some skinny jeans and a white t shirt with a red jacket.
"20 minutes till showtime." called a voice. I quickly grabbed my guitar and waited, until we heard the fans screaming.
"5, 4, 3, 2, 1..." then we came out.
And then my eardrums died.
But it was well worth it. We played through all our main songs and a few covers. It was really humbling to see how many fans knew the words and were singing along in the crowd.
As we played She Was The One to close the fans were starting to leave. As we came off we watched from backstage as the girls who just came for the supporting act left the arena. We were just about to get on the bus when I heard a familiar voice.
"Great show tonight Bradley," she said. I turned around and there she was.
Her hair was a bit shorter than before, but the pink and blue were brighter. She was nervously fiddling with the sparrow charm from the necklace I gave her, it made me so happy that she was still wearing it. She was wearing a pair of black denim shorts revealing a new tattoo of an octopus on her left thigh but she was here. She was back. I didn't care who was watching, I didn't care if the boys saw me I just ran over to her and kissed her.
That night was the last night on the bus, and as the new hair stylist had left for Australia this morning I had my bunk back for the first time in 3 months. After the lights went out Sarah crawled into my bunk, I hugged her really close to me as if to check if she was real.
"Is this it then? Are you back for good?" I asked. She nodded.
"I think so. Paris is a city that holds nothing but death to me now." she said. I quickly kissed her lips.
"I'm so happy you came back. And I'm so proud of you for handling your parents death the way you did." I said.
"I don't think I handled it right. I cut off everyone I cared about." she said.
"You just needed time, it's natural."
"But I changed."
"Only a bit, I like the tattoo by the way."
"Thanks but how can you be sure?"
"Because you came back to me. Something told you to come back."
"Because I still love you."
"That was all I needed to hear." I said before I kissed her.
And as she kissed me back I knew that this was the re start of something great.
