I am a metaphor
Don't think about me for too long
I may confuse you
Because I am not me you see
This is not about you but about me
Yes I am a metaphor
An everlasting contradiction
Pretending to be something I'm not
Always living in another state of me
So certain of this fact
I believe in every present
Yes I am a metaphor
I am never truly me
Not you yet something I want to be
In a cloak of invisibility
No one ever sees the real me
I chameleon forever changing
Yes I am a metaphor
I need to change my colours
But my environment changes to fast
I am exposed A red blinking light
Hear laughter ringing in my ears
Yet I see nothing
Because I am not the only metaphor
There are chameleons everywhere
They hide in the colours that never change
Hidden In a state of darkness
So that no one will find
I was the only one hiding in light
A metaphor trying to hide
in plain sight
