My favorite thing about having a sibling is, you're never alone.I guess some people see that occasion different, depending on how nice their sibling are to them.
I've gotten lucky. My brother has been my best friend.
Jared and Alice, the two orphaned siblings.
We are just kinda known.
At school, at our foster home.
Jared wants to be a professional artist.
I would love to be a parkour master. My journey is tough, but I've been training.
Ever since I was a little kid, I've had dreams about beauty.
About mythical beings, spirits.
An entirely different world.
Dreams that feel real. Sometimes when I wake up, it almost feels like I wasn't sleeping.
These strange dreams feel so real.
Jared has told me he's had dreams a bit like I describe.
When we wake up, we don't even know it was a dream. No matter how surreal it was.
Our mother was killed when I was 10, and Jared was 7. She was a single mother, and always told us of mysterious tales.
People who are able to make the earth shake, or push waves with their bare hands.
Our mother even taught us different forms of martial arts. We were a small, poor family. Our teachings and ideals are the only thing we have left from the simple days.
I bring up all of these factors, because a discovery I made today is jaw dropping.
I'm sitting on the couch of my foster parents house, watching a tv show. When I realize it is similar... EXTREMELY similar, to the stories my mother once told me as a kid, I freak.
It's on some kids network. Nickelodeon. Avatar, but there's no blue people. It's a show about a boy facing his destiny as some sort of- savior.
Something he never wanted.
As soon as I see this show for the first time, I grab two 20 dollar bills out of my wallet, and I jog to the closest store.
Lucky me, Walmart. I walk to the disc section like a normal person, and search for a series pack. I stop in front of a three disc series pack that is about 25 dollars.
Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Even the name gives me deja vu.
I grab the set and speed walk to the check out.
"Hey Ally!" A familiar voice rings.
Steph. "Yo." I respond in a simple manor.
Steph, a friend from my calculus class.
"Avatar? I love that show. Who's your favorite character?" Steph asks.
I don't know how to answer. I only saw the first episode.
