Chapter 14 ~ A musical

"Hey Rose did you hear?!" Sasha came bounding through the homeroom door before school the next morning.

"Hear what?" I asked, confused. She slapped down a flyer on my desk.

"We're putting on a musical!" She said. I looked down at the flyer. Beauty and the Beast huh? Okay. "So are you going to try out?!"

"Um..." I said. Should I? It seems pretty fun.

"You should totally do it! I bet you'd get the lead part!" Sasha said.

"When are auditions?" I asked.

"Tomorrow during activity period." She said.

"Okay... I'll try out." I told her.

"Yay!" She jumped up.

Let's see how this goes.

Time skip

That night I prepared for my audition. It shouldn't be too hard as long as I just do my best.

"Okay, so I'm going to have you read a portion of the script and sing a song." The drama teacher said and handed me a script. "Pick any part to read for and we'll discuss later which part we think you'd be best for." I looked down a the script.

Which part should I choose...? Sasha mentioned Belle... maybe her.

"I'll read for Belle." I decided.

"Okay, whenever you're ready." The drama teacher nodded. I took a deep breath and started. The teacher took notes and listened intently as I read. "Very good." She said. "Now let's do a song."

She led me over to the piano and picked out a song. I looked over and she had picked out Belle Reprise from the recent Beauty and the Beast movie. She started the piano and I took a deep breath to sing.

"Madame Gaston, can't you just see it? Madame Gaston, his little wife, ugh." For a second I could see the teacher's eyes widen a bit but I kept singing. "I want adventure in the great wide somewhere. I want it more than I can tell. And for once it might be grand to have someone understand I want so much more than they've got planned."

"That was amazing!" The teacher clapped. "You have a beautiful voice!" I blushed.

"T-thank you." I said. She smiled.

"We'll talk about it and let you know later." I nodded and thanked her, walking out the door. However, all of my friends were on the other side.

"That was amazing, Rose!!" Hanji said and gave me a huge hug.

"That was really good, Rose." Eren smiled at me and... blushed?

"Thank you guys." I smiled at them.

"How did you learn to sing like that?" Sasha asked.

"Well my mom used to sing around the house a lot when I was little, so I guess I just kind of picked it up." I told her. She nodded.

"Well let's go to lunch now! I'm starving!" She skipped off to the lunch room with everybody else following behind.

"That was really beautiful." Levi came up to me.

"Thanks." I smiled and felt my cheeks grow a little warm. "Did you audition, Levi?"

"Tch, Four-eyes made me do it." He said.

"Four-eyes?" I asked, confused.

"Hanji."

"Oh." I said. "So what part did you try out for?"

"The beast." He answered.

"I didn't know you could sing."

"Tch." He said. "Come on." He continued walking to the lunch room.

Time skip

"ROSE!!" Sasha came bounding down the hallway, bumping into people here and there. She stopped in front of me and held up a list. "You got the part!!"

"What?" I asked and looked at the list. It was the cast list for the musical and sure enough, my name was at the top of the list next to Belle. "Wow, I didn't know I'd actually get the part."

"Of course you would!" Sasha said. "Your singing and acting were amazing!" I giggled and continued to look down the list.

Wow, Levi got the part of the beast.

"Yep, Shorty's gonna be the beast." Hanji came up behind me. "And you know what that means?~"

"Umm... no?" I asked more than stated.

"You'll have to kiss him!" She said. That's right. At the end of the show I'll have to kiss him... "Awwe are you blushing?"

"W-what? No!" I tried to cover up.

"Don't worry! I won't tell anyone!" Hanji said.

"Tell anyone what?" I asked.

"That you like Shorty~" She said.

"Yeah! Me either!" Sasha piped up.

"Whatever." I sighed and walked towards the school's exit.

"So you got Belle, huh?" Somebody came up beside me. I looked over and it was Levi.

"Yeah." I answered. "And you got the beast."

"Yeah..." He said.

"Are you not happy?" I asked him.

"It's not that. I'm just..." He trailed off.

"Nervous?" I asked. He slowly nodded. "Don't be." I placed a hand on his shoulder. "You'll be fine. And I'll be there to help you." He slowly smiled.

"Thanks, Rose." He said. I nodded and smiled, continuing my way out of school.

This is going to be fun.
