The day had finally come.

It was a Friday afternoon when Camille got off the bus and zipped inside. She quickly hugged her parents before running upstairs to her bedroom. She excitedly slid into her costume that she had laid out on her bed before she went to school.

Herc appeared in the doorway, shaking his head. He helped with her costume, adjusting her wings.

"Can you do my hair?" Cami asked.

Lafayette was typically the one to do their daughters hair, but Herc was willing to try. He sat down on Cami's, and she stood in front of him. He carefully gathered the curls, pulling them back to a neat ponytail.

"Alright, I there ya go." Herc smiled fondly as Cami twirled around.

*,*,*,*,*,

Cami lead Amy, Cameron, Pip, and Peter from house to house, filling up their bags with goodies as the older children stuggled to keep up. The parents walked behind, gripping mugs of hot chocolate to keep warm as they walked.

"It's nice too see Peter enjoying himslef." Thomas said, "Especially since there is no Halloween in France."

"It's sad he won't be able to enjoy the candy as much as the others." James added.

The aldults walked in pairs. Laf and Herc, John and Alex, Aaron and Theo, Hugh and Elena, Thomas and James, Maria and Elizabeth, and then of course Peggy.

Lafayette was growing tired. His long day at the bakery had left him exhausted and he felt his eyes drifting shut every few steps. He opened his eyes again to see possibly the worlds cutest sight. Adien was carrying a sleepy Theodosia on his back, while Caleb did the same thing for Amy.

Laf pointed it out to the other parents who smiled and took pictures.  Herc drapped his arm across Laf's shoulders.

"Babe, you look exhausted." Herc whispered.

"I'm fine." Laf said softly.

"I could carry you the rest of the way?"  Herc suggested.

"No, I can walk on my own. Besides I would look silly." Laf reasoned.

Herc smiled and gestured to the others. Alex was clinging to John's back like a baby Koala. Laf then noticed that they weren't the only one's. Eliza was carrying Maria, Aaron was carrying Theo, Hugh was carrying Elena, and Thomas was carrying Peggy while his arm rested across James shoulders.

Herc smiled down at Laf who tilted his head while he thought, an old habit he had picked up when he had started learning english for the first time. He decided that he was, in fact, to tired to walk any farther.

So with a little difficulty, he hoisted himself onto Hercs back. He smiled as he rested his head against Hercs shoulder as they walked down the street. His eyes growing heavy as he let out a soft sigh of relief.

Tout ira bein.
