Jonahmarais: Did you get rejected by your soulmate?
Press_ten_preston: No. My best friend did...
Jonahmarais: What happened? You don't have to answer if you don't want to.
Press_ten_preston: He found his soulmate, a guy who came from a very strict catholic home, and the guys parents told him that he couldn't see my friend, Obie, anymore. He followed his parents instructions and cut Obie out of his life, then got a girlfriend. Obie was crushed. He ended up committing suicide a month later...
I've been scared to find my soulmate since.
I don't want to be rejected...Jonahmarais: I'm so sorry, Preston. I can't believe people still have such a closed minded state of mind.
Press_ten_preston: I'm not going to say it's okay because it's not, but time heals wounds enough that I can get by okay.
Jonahmarais: Do you think you'll ever try in your necklace?
Press_ten_preston: I don't know... if I meet someone that I connect with, I don't want to try it on and be in Daniel's situation. I don't want to break someone's heart.
Jonahmarais: Have you met anyone you connect with?
Press_ten_preston: I think so? I don't think they feel the same about me, though...
Jonahmarais: Do I know them?
Press_ten_preston: Can we change the subject? I don't really want to talk about it...
Jonahmarais: Yeah. Sorry. How was your day?

Preston hadn't talked about Obie in years. He tried his hardest not to think about him. Late at night, though, memories of Obie often made their way back into his mind. He always felt guilty about Obie's suicide. He could have done more to help him. He could have put in more effort. He could have done so much more to prevent it. It didn't matter how many people told him it wasn't his fault, he felt like it was.
Then, Jonah had to keep asking questions. Preston didn't really like talking about his feelings. It was one of his biggest flaws. He was great at listening to other people and helping them through everything, but he hated opening up himself. He wasn't even sure how he felt at the moment. He thought he had everything figured out, then the world threw him a curveball. He had no idea what to believe or what to do.

Jonah didn't like that Preston was being so secretive. They'd never had a problem with being upfront with each other. Maybe Jonah was pressing his boundaries, but that'd never been a problem before, and this was something Jonah genuinely wanted to know. Of course, he respected his need for privacy, but it just made him more curious.
He could go behind Jonah's back and ask Octavia some questions, but he didn't want to betray Preston's trust. Maybe if I worded it right- no. Be respectful. He'll open up when he's ready. Jonah took a deep breath and continued his new conversation about Preston's day. Things were slightly awkward after that. They had to force the conversation. So, Jonah told him that he had to go and ended the conversation right there. Why did I have to bring that up? Why did I have to pry? Oof.

Octavia was elated to see that Miley had finally found her soulmate, but if brought back the memory of the first time she met Jack. That memory played in her head over and over, but each time it became more blurred and out of focus. She remembered how it happened, but she couldn't remember the look on his face anymore or the feeling of his hand brushing agains her neck when he tabbed her necklace, or the sound of his voice when he said her name. She didn't remember mush about him anymore. It had been so long since she'd actually seen him or listened to his voice. She hated that the most. At least in the beginning she could still imagine his face and voice in vivid detail.
