Octavia couldn't imagine Why Don't We breaking up, and she didn't want to play any part in that decision. She missed Jack more than words could describe, but she didn't know how any of it would work out. New York had become such a huge part of her life. She loved everything about the city life. She couldn't imagine giving that up. She assumed Jack felt the same way about L.A. Yet, he was still willing to leave it behind for her. That was way, way more than he was willing to do when they were together. He was the reason their relationship ended, and she might be the reason it never sparks up again.
She needed to come up with a game plan. What if we get an apartment in L.A. and another in New York? We could stay in L.A. while I'm in between releasing and producing lines and we could stay in New York while he's on break. He's never on break, though. Well, he's on a long break right now, so maybe he'll get more breaks like that as the years go on. Then, we'd just need to fit our schedules together so that it could all work out! That way we both get to keep the lifestyles we've grown to love! I'm a genius!
It only took her a few days to come up with a good compromise. She just needed to finesse it a little bit before she presented her brilliant plan to Jack. When she needed a break from sketching, she'd write down details that would help the plan run smoothly. She also ran the idea by Preston, Nat, Miley, and Jane in the group chat. Of course, they all flipped out and told her the plan had to work or they'd die because they're dramatic AF. Then, she ran the plan by Margaret and Mr. Gatson. They told her the idea looked good, but Octavia should get a secretary to work with Jack's manager on schedule.
So, Octavia's next step was getting a secretary or assistant. She asked the group chat if any of them would be interested, but all of them declined because it seemed like too much work and they already had a lot on their plate, well, aside from Preston. He was currently in between jobs, so he had all the time in the world. He just didn't like the amount of responsibility that would be on him. From there, she was lost. She had no idea how to find someone, what to pay them, when to pay them, how it'd be legal, nothing. Thankfully, Margaret was there to help her out.
They decided a good amount to pay, what responsibilities would come with the job, and where they'd work. Margaret helped Octavia find an office space to work in. It wasn't big, but it could fit everything they needed. They bought some desks, comfy chairs, a desktop for the new hire to use, supplies they thought they'd probably need, supplies they probably didn't need, two phones for each desk, a bulletin board, a whiteboard, a design table to work on, shelves to hold fabric and other materials, a couch to fill the extra space in the corner, and some things to decorate the space.
Within a week, the plan was solid and all they had to do was put up a post about the new job opening. Therefore, Octavia sent Jack a message asking him to come to meet her in New York to discuss his proposition. He told her he'd be out there in three days and ready to stay for as long as she needed him to. Octavia wanted to offer to let him stay in her apartment, but it was a mess and she'd probably make him sleep on the couch anyways. Sure they were going to be getting back together, but they hadn't seen each other in two years plus.

Jonahmarais: Hey
Press_ten_preston: Hi!
Jonahmarais: I know you said you didn't want to talk about
who you like, but I really want to know.
We normally talk about everything...Press_ten_preston: It's Octavia...
That was a lie, though. Preston loved Octavia, but it was a sibling kind of love. He might have had a crush on her at some point, but that ended quickly when he realized he'd confused his feelings for her. He couldn't tell Jonah the truth, though. He couldn't screw up what they had going on. He shouldn't have told him that it was Octavia, though. Now, he definitely didn't have a chance. It was too late, though. He pressed send and the only way to take it back was to say, "Actually it's you, but I didn't want you to know because I don't know if you're into guys or not." So, he left it alone.
Jonahmarais: Oh.
Well, Jack is trying to fix things with her...Press_ten_preston: I know... and she's going to take him back.
They're meeting up in three days to talk about it.Jonahmarais: I'm sorry, man...
Are you going to be okay?Press_ten_preston: Yeah. I'm doing okay. I'm just happy that
I get to be friends with her. I don't think he feels the same anyways.Jonahmarais: He?
Press_ten_preston: I meant she. Haha.
Jonahmarais: Haha. Yeah, I know.

Jonah only asked Preston about it because he was sure he had a crush on him. He spent days typing up, "is it me?", but never sent it. Then, he kept pacing and typing up messages that were more subtle. Then, he finally sent it. He could feel the pit in his stomach as soon as he pressed that button. Then, Preston said another name. His heart sank. He didn't want to respond, but he had to play it cool. He also felt like he had to get Preston's attention off of Octavia. He wasn't sure if Preston was into guys or not, but he wanted to at least put up a fight. It was all he could do at this point.

A/N: Sorry for the delayed update. I was in the process of getting a job and I did end up getting it. They started me right away and I had to work three days in a row after a week of trying to figure things out and working everything out and paperwork. I will start writing on my days off and updating as much as I can, but they might not be as frequent as they were in the past (not that they were the best in the past).
Thank you for being patient!
