Alexis's POV
I looked at myself in the mirror. Hmm, looking okay. Grabbing my sling bag, I was about to leave when I heard Mum. "Alexis?" Mum came out of the kitchen, wearing an office blouse and a pencil skirt. Mum and Dad both worked in the same company... In fact, that was how they met.
"Yeah Mum? Oh and why are you home? Aren't you supposed to be in the office?" I questioned. "Dad is in the office and I forgot to bring my thumb drive you know... Anyway, where are you heading again? Oh, and where is your brother?" Mum asked. "Alex is hanging out with his gang and I'm going over to my...friend's house for a project. Remember? Alex told you about it," I replied rather smoothly. Oh and I must be crazy calling Benjamin my 'friend'. "So it's no one at home?" Mum raised an eyebrow. I nodded…but hey, in fact it’s empty from the time I leave to the time when Mum and Dad come home.
“So…about this friend, who is she??Mum asked again, breaking the silence. Shit. She said ‘she? She. Not ‘he? “Um, yeah??I replied hesitantly. Luckily, to my immense relief, Mum just dismissed me and told me not to keep ‘her?waiting. Phew. I quickly wore my maroon red sneakers (my favourite) and set off, waving goodbye to Mum.
I knocked on the door. It opened on the third knock. The guy who opened the door wasn’t Benjamin. A burly man, with quite a few ear holes, a face he didn’t bother shaving and a beer bottle on his left land. A gangster-like guy. I took a step away cautiously. What was he doing in Benjamin’s house? “Pretty girl, what are you doing here??His words were slurred and it only meant one thing. He was drunk. He then staggered into the house, then yelling, ”Idiot! Your girlfriend is here!?I‘m guessing ‘idiot?was Benjamin.
I heard someone rushing down the stairs. His hair was wet and he was clutching onto a towel. He was cursing when he led me, the startled me, outside. Making sure there was no one watching, he grabbed my arm gently and while examining me, asked, ”Did he harm you or anything??His expression was so soft, and even, cute. I kicked myself internally.
“Um, no…Bu t he was though. Who’s he..??I replied cautiously. His expression gave way to a look of pain. Shit. “Okay, it’s okay not telling me.?I stepped back, but he gripped onto my wrist. “You know what? Let’s go somewhere.?lt;/p>
I looked up in confusion. “Where??lt;/p>
“Not to worry. I’m not gonna harm you,?he managed a smile.
He told me to stay where I was, which was quite a distance from his house, before running into the house. I heard shouts. Guess the both of them weren’t on good relations. Finally, he came out of the house and after wearing his dark green sneakers then beckoned me over?lt;/p>
I could hear the jingling of car keys. “You drive a car??I exclaimed in surprise. He looked at me as if I were crazy. “Um?Every cool kid drives a car,?he stated in a cool fashion, twirling the keys. But, he ended up twirling it to the ground. I burst out with laughter.
“You call that cool??lt;/p>
He pouted, muttering under his breath as he picked up the keys before ushering me into the car. It was a nice car and it was comfy. Since I didn’t bother about cars, I didn’t know what brand the car was, but I knew it was red in colour.
