KING
•••
I had never seen my place so quiet. Somber. Gia seemed to be avoiding Siena at all costs, so she was locked up in her favorite place; Cam's room. Si and Nicole could still be heard mumbling in the living room and I almost felt like I was eavesdropping, but I couldn't sleep.
The front door opened and shut and soon I heard silence for the first time. Still, I lied there for another twenty minutes staring up at the ceiling trying to find answers for my own questions for the sake of peace of mind. It was almost three in the morning and I was more than glad we didn't have an early practice. The faint knock on the door startled me and I almost thought I imagined it until it got a bit louder.
I knew it had to be Cam trying to be nosey and I wasn't in the mood. But the knob twisted anyway and I could see her silhouette in the doorway. "Kingston?" she asked shakily as she walked closer to me and I sat up instantly in my fresh sheets.
"Can you walk me home?" She mumbled while I continued to stare and try to read her face but couldn't in the dark.
"You want to be alone?" I asked and she almost violently shook her head from left to right. Pulling back the covers, I slid as close to the wall as I possibly could so that she could ease in with a comfortable amount of space between us. I wasn't sure what had happened, but I was sure it was something.
I had questions, but it wasn't the right time for me to ask. I wanted give her a hug, but it wasn't the right time for that either. So I just lied there on my back staring up at the ceiling.
"It was so close." She whispered before I felt her body shaking the bed. Still, I didn't know what to say, until my idiotic brain finally started putting shit together.
"Dre?" I asked a little louder than I meant to as I sat up, but she didn't move or acknowledge my question. "He..." I began before pausing. "What he do?"
But she didn't answer. Only cried harder.
Not being able to help myself, I hesitantly extended my arm to place on her waist and scooted her back a little. Surprisingly, her sobs ceased to body shaking sniffles and I sighed a little in relief that she hadn't become uncomfortable.
"No." She mumbled after ten minutes of silence, proving that neither of us were asleep.
I quickly lifted my hand from my waist and moved it away like it was hot, but she grabbed it, placing it back against her stomach.
"No." She said again. "I was answering the question you don't want to ask."
There were plenty of questions I didn't want to ask, so I was a little confused but didn't respond.
"He didn't ...." she paused, expecting me to fill in the peaces.
"That doesn't make it better." I assured, rubbing the fabric against her belly. "Ima fuck him up."
Turning to face me finally, she shook her head no. Even in the dark I could see the moisture from her tears clinging to her eyelashes.
"I'm sorry." I mumbled, finally realizing why I hadn't been able to sleep. I wasn't keeping an eye on her like I should have been, because I was too concerned about pussy I could have gotten after the party was over.
"You didn't do anything. Don't be weird." She assured with a smile. I wanted to say that was the point, but her smile was reassuring enough for me to not bask in my pity party. Plus, her eyes had begun to flutter closed before I could and I knew she needed some rest.
