KINGSTON

I was already missing the hot weather and it was only the first week of October. Surprisingly, it wasn't as cold as usual but I still needed the light bomber jacket as I made my way back to my room.

I hadn't been there since the morning and it was well after six in the evening. And while I wished I could just shower and lay down, I still had homework to finish and the remains of my sociology project that was due at the end of the week.

Luckily for me, the only thing my partner and I had left to do were our flash cards for the presentation and they could be done individually. I was a lowkey nerd, but my partner was a high key nerd who would've completed the entire assignment in one day.

The kinks in my shoulders and back surfaced almost immediately following my putting the key in the door. My body was reminding me that I needed rest but the loud noise coming from my living room let me know that I probably wouldn't get any even after my homework was done.

Familiar giggles forced me to whip my head toward my shared living room. There were two girls there with their notebooks opened. They both caught my eye as I looked from her eyes to hers. Gia and Siena.

"What are y'all doing here?" The annoyance in my voice was unintentional, but they both sat around and Cameron was nowhere in sight.

"Cam said we could study here since you wouldn't be back until late. We're almost done." Gia said, flagging me off as she went back to her and Siena's project.

Cam had asked my intentions with Gia after we fucked so I️ knew he'd try to hit too. What I️ didn't see coming though was him making her his girlfriend. But here she was, already acting like my house was suddenly hers as well. And if that wasn't bad enough, she was there with Siena.

"You do know there's a library right?"

"Well my boyfriend said I could use his place," she smirked like I was supposed to give a fuck. I could've said that she needed to take her ass in his room, but I knew that would've been awkward for Si so I simply made my way into my own room.

She and I hadn't spoken since her boyfriend tried to make a scene about shit he didn't even need to be worried about. I wasn't bothered though. We never spoke before so I was content not speaking now. But where she had been giving me the cold shoulder, now she seemed to be nervously avoiding me altogether.

I left them to their assignment while I went straight to the bathroom to shower. The overhead light from my bedroom peeking through the opened bathroom door was all of the light I needed to wash off the day quickly before I got too tired to do anything.

Surprised by the silence once I made myself to the kitchen in a pair of Polo pajama bottoms, I thought they had left. But slight movement on the couch forced my head in the direction.

I silently made a pack of chicken flavored ramen noodles and ignored her desperation to get comfortable on the couch. I could tell by her balled up face that she was exhausted and irritated with herself for not being able to sleep.

"Why not just leave?" I asked, realizing just what it was that was keeping her up. Gia's moans were quiet until Cam tried to prove a point. Then, they could be heard even down the hall.

"We aren't done and this is my only free night since we're having late practices all week." She said and I nodded, adding the flavor packet to the contents in my bowl.
