SIENA
...
Nikki and I stepped out of our shared room with our duffle bags in tow to load the bus up. It was game time.
We had all literally slept the whole day away coming down from our hangovers and called it big game preparation.
"I'm glad I took some Tylenol last night," I informed. "I don't know how y'all do this all the time." I chuckled and she did the same.
"You get used to it. But you had a pretty wild night," she said, not wanting to say too much about what she thought she may have seen.
"Wild? No." I chuckled. "King and I have been friends since high school," I told her half truthfully just as we bypassed his room.
Just as we got to his door, it opened and he and Jordan walked out, hand in hand. I blinked a few times before watching the floor as we passed them. I couldn't help myself from wondering why or how she had even gotten in our hotel. The cheerleaders were like forbidden during games, but I guess it was cute they made a way.
"Friends?" She asked once we were on the elevator, alone.
                              "Yes, Nikki. Friends." I chuckled.
"Even in high school?" She smirked and I stared at her trying to figure out what she was getting at. We were close, but I still played her close too.
"Yeah," I answered blandly and she frowned.
"Damn. I thought we were friends. Just tell me to mind my business, but don't lie. I damn near felt your heart drop from beside you when you just walked passed them. And you missed his face too." She said making me wonder just how his face looked. Probably stuck on fucking stupid.
I wasn't sure what to say that wouldn't incriminate myself but she was reading me like a book. Reading shit even I couldn't figure out.
My phone vibrated in my palms and Nikki and I both watched it ring as Kingston's name popped up. I could almost read her mind as I hit ignore and stepped off the elevator.
                              "Si,"
"Nikki," I said, matching her tone. "Can we not. I need to be focused."
"Bitch for what? You ain't playing," she snapped jokingly causing me to bust out in laughter. She was right.
"Fuck you, bitch." I chuckled and she did the same. I couldn't wait until I enjoyed something besides riding the bench.
"We'll talk later. Don't worry, I'll get these buckets for us." She said, dropping the conversation.
And she did get those buckets for us. Earning more points than even Cam did and I knew it would be the topic of conversation once we were back on the bus.
I sat front and center and watched both games but paid special attention to the cheerleaders. Jordan specifically even though I tried not to.
I cleared my throat and unzipped the hoodie that I wore under my leather jacket revealing my tiny white shirt with red lettering and our mascot, the jaguar.
"You're cheering?" My dad asked halfway excited. "Look at you. Congratulations baby girl. You didn't tell me?" I could hear the slight hurt in his voice.
