Nothing special happened from the bus to my tutor room. I had some stares and a few comments but nothing overwhelming. Me Jett and Jude ended up strolling behind the others catching up and talking like last year never happened, no awkwardness and I just decided to brush off what he said, I didn't want to make things weird. We entered our tutor room, it was still the same room it had been when we all met in year 7. Over the summer the school had refurnished the whole school and it made such a difference, making the school look so much fresher. You would think they'd redecorate every year the amount of money our parents pump into it but apparently not.
The tutor group all congregated at the front of the room, some migrating to some benches at the side of the room, waiting around for our teacher to appear.
"Right boys and girls, welcome back, lets make sure we make your last year something to remember. All my previous rules still apply, I don't want any crap so just stick to the rules." Our tutor Miss Dyer shouted as she entered the classroom. She was a pretty scary women, she had dull grey hair tied back into a tight bun. But she had pulled her bun so tight that it stretched her facial skin out so much it looked like she'd had surgery. She always wore red lipstick, which always managed to get onto her teeth, and she was a serious coffee addict. Me and the gang had predicted that she was about 100 years old, she was a teacher back when my parents went to school here and that was a long time ago.
"Right pay attention now, as you can see I put all the tables into sets of twos, and i'll be placing you all in alphabetical order" she shouts again. This erupted shouting and arguing this was not good.
"Miss this has to be a joke? we always sit where we want to, you can't spilt us up?" Oscar shouts.
"Yeah miss, come on now funs over nice little prank" Teddy also shouts.
"SILENCE! This isn't a joke, now be quiet and let me call out the register so I can place you all in your seats" Miss Dyer shouts, moving over to her desk grabbing her paper work.
I turn towards the gang, you could see the tension in everyones faces. Teddy begins to speak, " Look guys don't panic, its not like we're not gonna see each other anymore, we're just gonna have to annoy her so much that she wants to put us back on the same table" he looks at us trying to make eye contact. "No it's not the same Ted, we've sat next to each other for the past 6 years, its tradition and this is not ok" Oscar exclaims.
I look around and everyones silent, I make eye contact with Floss she widens her eyes, I can tell that she's jestering me to speak. I've always been the resolver of the group, always trying to bring everyone together this was my cue.
"Guys, right stop fucking sulking and look at me" I begin to speak and everyone looks at me. I don't get nervous or blush, this was normal, these people were my family and im here to reconcile and lift there spirits. "Look I know this is disheartening, and it's shit especially after the year we've had, and we have hardly spent any time together in a while, and this was our chance to spend time with each other. However everything happens for a reason, it's shit but we're gonna make this year important and not obsess over some seats, we're gonna make new traditions and we're gonna have an amazing time this year and not let this bother us. We still have our form games and sports day, and we're gonna work and team up together then and thats what we'll look forward for together. Does that sound ok, are we gonna stop moping and suck it up, come on we're kamikaze's we only let things blow up if we decide it and thats not gonna happen today." I look around Jett squeezes my hand and smiles, the rest of the group do the same except Kit he looks at me with a plain face.
"Easy for you to say Sli(Slee) if we'd spent the majority of last year together then it wouldn't of been so bad, but you weren't here most of the time, and were off doing god knows what, either high or drunk. You've come back from the summer acting like nothing happened and now your giving us some shitty pep talk on friendship and sticking together when you can't even keep your life together. This is fucking karma for us trying to help you and you chucking back in our faces, I don't need this bullshit" Kit spat, he inched closer towering over me.
