My dad drops me off outside our house quickly, doing a u-turn in the driveway and speeding off. I make my way to the front door letting my self in. Dumping my bag and blazer on the floor and kicking my shoes off. As I make my way to the back of the house to the kitchen I can smell my mum cooking, along with laughter and chatter, I know that loud squeaking laugh anywhere, its Harriet, Jett and Judes mum, and also my mums best friend.

I creep into the kitchen, as I do I see both of them with glasses of wine in there hands laughing, my mum on one side of the counter cooking and Harriet on the other sitting on the bar stools. As I enter the open planned kitchen, Harriett swivels on the bar stool.

"Silver, honey! Welcome home" She bellows, arching up from the stool. "Oh look at you, you look so good, so grown up." She motions her arms outwards. I walk towards her engaging in her hug.

I let go from the embrace, Harriet sits back in her stool. I turn and look at my mum, she smiles as she cooks. "Hello Darling, how was school?" She asks.

"Yes it was good thanks, dad had a business call in the car something about chicken being burnt, he's gone to the office and you need to pack some bags?" My mum freezes as I say this, her eyes widening.

"Shit okay, I better start packing" she looks at Harriet, "Sorry Hattie, gonna have to cut this catch up short, me and John are gonna probably be gone for a couple of weeks, do you mind checking in on Silver when you can?".

"Of course Jen, I'm only next door it's not a problem, go pack I will sort out the dinner and put it in some Tupperware' Harriet replies.

My mum smiles, wiping her hands on a tea towel before darting off. I go to the cupboard reaching for a glass, then opening the fridge pouring myself a drink and grabbing a chocolate bar to eat, walking to the other side of the counter and sitting in one of the bar stools.

"Was it nice seeing Jett and Jude today, they've missed you so much, I don't think you guys have ever been separated for so long" Harriet chimes as she dances around the kitchen.

"Yeah it was nice, just weird. I erm, I didn't realise that Jett had a girlfriend?" I replied.

"Oh yes, that Molly girl do you know her?

"Yeah I do, we're not exactly friends though" I say rolling my eyes.

"Oh good, that wretched girl! I can't stand her, there's something about her I can't place my finger on, and she's too overly nice it makes me sick, if I'm honest Silver I always thought you and Jett would end up together, you should of seen him when you had your episodes earlier this year, he was so worried about you, you would of thought the way that he was acting that you were together" Harriet says all too quickly.

I pause, wow I never knew Jett had even acted like that. I do remember everyone being overly concerned about me. But then Jett would follow me to different places and constantly ring me, but he was always so angry.

I smile at her. "He was just worried about everyone was Harriet, but I'm better, things are better. As long as he's happy" I reply.

"Well.." She stands up brushing out her delicately ironed skirt. " I best be going, any problems you know where to find me" She says winking. "Jen, I'm gonna shoot, don't get into too much trouble I'll see you later" Harriet shouts. There was a pause, no reply from my darling mother.

I look at Harriet and laugh. "I'll let her know you sad by Hat". I saw quickly shoving some crisps down my throat.

Harriet leaves, shutting the door. I can hear thudding upstairs, obviously my mum franticly finding her stuff. I sit down on the bar stool and sigh to myself. I know people might think I'm being overdramatise but life's just shit, don't get me wrong I have a roof over my head, I have food, I have parents they aren't around like ever but I have parents, and even tho my friends are too happy with me, I have friends.

I think.
