                   PREFACE

We were all bundled together by chance, it was our first day of secondary school. We were all placed together in the same tutor group, and were allocated the same seats. Prior to secondary school we had all gone to different primary schools so no one knew each other except me and the twins. From sitting on the same table in our tutor group to now in our last year of school us 8 were inseparable. Me, Chloe, Floss, Kit, Ted, Oscar and the twins Jett and Jude. Other than our tutor group we also had a few other classes together such as history, this is where we decided to call ourselves the Kamikaze society. Don't judge us, we thought it was extremely cool, and only being 12 years old and making your own society you would think it was cool. We decided to call ourselves the Kamikaze society after watching a World War II documentary in history class it was the name of one of the airplanes and we thought it sounded cool. It wasn't until Chloe went home that same day and told her mum what we had decided to call each other. Chloe's mum through a fit, turns out Chloe's grandad fought in World War II and Kamikaze was a Japanese airplane that carried explosives and made a deliberate suicidal crash on an enemy target. For year 7s it was a pretty intense, yet dark in a funny way, we felt that the explosives were us and it symbolised how we would all die for each other. Now in our final year at school, we hardly talk about our group name, but we kind of realised how fucked up it really was. It still important regardless, it's what ignited our friendship.
