Lightdestroyer Returns

(Moon's POV)

We were out flying calmly at night. I had gotten the old Jade Winglet together. Kinkajou and Turtle were together, but Qibli and I... didn't work out. We got into a fight and separated, but we were still friends, just not boyfriend/girlfriend. Clay and Peril had announced their relationship at the opening of Sanctuary, along with Tsunami and Riptide. Glory and Deathbringer, with Starflight and Fatespeaker, had announced their relationship a few days after, even though three of those dragons are gone. I was feeling down after almost everybody found someone though, so I insisted we went on a flight. A sharp quake in the air knocked me out of my thoughts and sent me careening in circles before I regained my balance. Rocks started flying through the air and the ground separated and I saw glistening white scales. The other dragons shrieked and tried to stay with me.

What? How? I thought no more dragons would be rising up out of the ground after Darkstalker. Why does this have to happen to us?

"MOON ROLL AND TWIST!" Kinkajou screamed suddenly, sending me out of my confusion. I rolled and twisted as a jagged boulder flew past where I was flying. I wheeled around to face the scales again as a giant Icewing rose out of the ground.

Wait. No. Not just an Icewing. Icewing and Nightwing hybrid. I gasped with Qibli, Winter, Kinkajou, and Turtle, but at the same time I was furious. What's with the giant Icewing and Nightwing hybrids rising out of the ground?

Most of his face, the back of his legs, and the edges of his wings were sparkling silver while the inside of his wings were a light glittering blue with scattered silver and white scales. The main part of his body, along with his spikes and almost all of his tail were a deep black. The edge of his snout and his flickering tongue were black as well as the scales dappling the front of his legs and wings. A thick deep blue stripe with light blue spots ran from the top of his neck to the beginning of his tail. A thinner gray-blue stripe started at the end of the black on his snout and ran down his neck to the middle of his tail. Light blue and white spots were scattered across the beginning to the middle of his tail. At the end of his tail, the black turned into a deep blue and it continued to turn into lighter shades until it was a slivery-white. Black spikes rattled as he twitched his tail.

"Why does this keep happening?!" I roared angrily. Kinkajou shrieked in horror when the glittering dragon focused his gleaming blue eyes on me and they turned black. I bared my teeth as I landed and he stretched.

Is this dragon the reason all the Nightwings are gone? I wondered. He chuckled softly.

"Yes, I am the reason all your precious Nightwings have disappeared. None of them had powers, unlike you, little Moondrop."

This dragon is insane. I tried to maintain my face of horror and anger, but I failed.

"I'm Lightdestroyer by the way. From the apparent look on your face, little Moondrop, you are wondering if I can read minds. I can to an extent. I only get a sense of what they are thinking, but not their complete thought, unlike you. You have full powers. Which is why I spared you from being sent..." He looked at me thoughtfully before continuing. "...away. Oh no, they're not dead."

I didn't think they were. Even though the entire Nightwing tribe except for me has been missing for half a year.

"Let's just say they won't be returning for a while." He continued, flicking his tongue in and out. Unlike Darkstalker, this dragon had the intent to hurt.

Maybe I can pretend to be afraid and that might soften him. I forced my breathing to become rapid and I made my voice stutter.

"Uh, what do you want from me then, Lightdestroyer?" He threw his head back in a howling laugh.

"I want you to use your power do the things I want you to do. Even if they are evil deeds, you will do them. Starting with my revenge list of murdering the entire Seawing tribe. You will fly over the ocean and listen for the minds of the Seawings in the Deep Palace, which is where they keep my magic bracelet. I need it in order to kill a whole tribe. The rest of my magic is stored in these talons." I felt anger and horror course through me. He held up his talons for us before starting to admire them.

Why do these giant hybrids have to hold a grudge against the Seawings?

"I will torture you and your friends if you don't look for it with your own will. Of course, I could always magic you to do whatever I tell you to do." He continued while picking dirt off his claws. He started laughing maniacally again as Qibli, Kinkajou, Winter, and I exchanged terrified glances. Turtle had vanished.

Maybe he used another stick and is going to get help. I picked my head up and held it high.

"No." I said boldly. Kinkajou looked at me in terror as he cut off laughing.

"Let me think about that for five minutes." He tipped his black, blue and silver snout to the sky again and closed his eyes thoughtfully, humming to himself.

Yep, definitely insane.

(Turtle's POV)

I snatched a rock that was within my reach. I glances around and then whispered quietly so no one could hear, including the second terrifying, insane, Nightwing-Icewing hybrid that came up out of the ground.

"Enchant this rock to hide me from everybody, mind-reading, future-seeing, and all five senses." It glowed for a moment. I padded over to Moon but stopped cold as a chilling laugh rang out.

"No." Moon said boldly.

"Let me think about that for five minutes." The insane dragon tipped his head back and started humming. I snapped out of my daze and whispered quietly to Moon.

"I sending you to another world, okay?" She continued looking at Lightdestroyer without even a flick of a tail, talon, or ear at me. I narrowed my eyes in confusion before realizing what I had forgotten in my terrified state.

Oh, Turtle you snail-brain. The rock is in the way of her hearing you. I quickly thought to the rock, hoping it worked. Take off sound so only Moon can hear me.

"Moon." She flicked her tail nervously to show that she heard as I grabbed a stick. "I going to send you someplace safe, like the rainforest. Okay?" She flicked her back talon once. "Okay. Hear it goes. Enchant this stick to send Moon the Nightwing to a safe place." She turned around and the other dragonets, including Kinkajou, moved in front of her to hide her, even though they couldn't sense me. I handed the stick to Moon but didn't let go immediately. "I don't know where this will take you, Moon. It could take you to a strange scavenger ruled world, a pig ruled world, or even the lost continent, if that counts as safe. Goodbye Moon." I was about to let go, but she stopped me.

(Moon's POV)

"Wait. Let me say goodbye first." I let go of the stick and turned to the other dragonets, saying goodbye quickly. Then turned to me as well. "Bye Qibli, Winter, Kinkajou. Ask Turtle to explain, when he shows himself. You will always be my friends, including you Qibli." He looked up to in surprise. Lightdestroyer suddenly snapped his gaze to me as I lunged at the stick and yanked it out of Turtle's talons. I closed my eyes as a loud roar rang out.

"NOOOOOOO!" Then, everything around me disappeared in a bright flash of light.
