"(Y/n)..."
The feeling of helplessness soaked through your body like water through a sponge. No matter how many times you wring it, it will never be gone entirely. You tried moving your arms forward, but they remained paralyzed by your sides. It felt as though you were drifting endlessly in a black abyss, and you couldn't escape.
"Why did you leave me (Y/n)...?"
The echoing voice only grew louder with every word it spoke, as if walls had surrounded you and the echo bounced off, falling to your ears.
"Save me, (Y/n). Please help me..."
That voice... it was faint but loud all at the same time. It was far away, yet it sounded like it was right next to you, like a daze. The voice was too familiar to ignore.
Mom...?
Your eyes blearily opened as your head slowly unscrambled itself. You were back in your room. It was five AM, and you hadn't gotten much sleep. You decided it was pointless to try again and kicked your legs over the side of the bed. The floor felt startlingly cold on your bare feet. You stood up, still groggy from the dream you had. It felt all too real.
You shuffled over toward the door, lightly tapping the panel causing the door to slide open with a cool whoosh. You rubbed your eyes, trying to wipe the sleep out of them. You knew Genji enough by now to know that he was most likely out and about, considering his early schedules for when he was in Nepal. Genji typically meditated for the extra needed energy, anyway.
You tip-toed through the hallway corridor, careful not to trip or make much noise, and your fingertips lightly followed the walls to help guide you. You heard muffled voices coming from down the hallway, in what looked like to be one of the labs. You bit your lip and contemplated listening in on the conversation. On the one hand, it was probably something classified, but on the other hand, you had a gut feeling it was something else. So following your instincts, you shuffled over to the doorway, and surprisingly enough it was left open.
You leaned in toward the doorway and made out two voices; Soldier: 76 and Angela.
When you got close enough, you could make out what they were saying.
"Jack, she's just a little girl!" The voice sounded like Angela's, but... who was Jack? Was it 76?
"'Little' my ass. She's sixteen, and she should know her rights from her wrongs by now. She puts us all in danger by doing the things she did." At this point, you knew they were talking about you, and you couldn't help but feel dread in the pit of your stomach.
"I know you're only looking out for everyone, but you're treating (Y/n) like she's a criminal."
"She might as well be, Angela. She's been a double agent this entire time, and you and I both know what happened last time we let a double agent get away."
You heard Angela let out an audible sigh as if she was exasperated and lost in thought at the same time.
"I suppose there is no convincing you, is there? Do what you will with her, but keep an open mind. People at this age tend to be fragile, especially when they feel like there is nobody they can rely on. She probably didn't feel like there was another choice."
