You felt your heart flutter anxiously, eyes flashing between Reaper and Genji. Soon, your shock became anger, but you didn't know what else you could do except stare angrily at the black-clad man. It pained you to know that you couldn't deny his words either since everything he had said was right.

"What sick joke are you playing, Reaper?" Genji finally came to his senses, and his question broke you from your stupor. His confusion was evident to you, and your heart wrenched a little knowing that you couldn't do anything about it.

Reaper began shaking, but you soon realized that he was merely silently laughing at your father. "Did you think that (Y/n)'s sudden closeness to you was a coincidence? That she attached herself to you because she felt like it? I find it hilarious that you never saw yourself in her, you blind fool." Reaper mused, his voice crescendoing into an ever so taunting tone.

Genji turned to you with his posture tense, almost begging for an explanation. What could you say? That you lied the entire time? That you were a coward? Neither of those answers were acceptable, and you knew that.

"Reaper!" A new voice pierced the silence. 76 took measured steps toward the three of you, his gun at his side but with the safety off. "Whatever mind games you're playing, enough! Your people are weakened, I suggest you surrender now and run off to wherever it is you bastards hide," he growled threateningly, clearly ready for a fight if need be.

"You people are gullible, aren't you? I guess not much has changed. Well, I suppose I'll have to enlighten you about the situation," Reaper's voice grew bored, but you could hear the smirk in his voice.

"No! Wait, please-" You finally stuttered out, but he either didn't hear or didn't care about your pleas.

"(Y/n) (L/n)," Reaper said is a false grandiose voice. He pulled out a disk and revealed a holographic screen with the press of a button.

You had seen this before. The tablet held several days worth of data on you. Including your birth certificate.

"Born sixteen years ago on a lonely night in Japan, daughter of Misaki (L/n)... and Genji Shimada."

The silence that followed his statement was mortifying. What would your mother think if she could see this now? What did your father think? Was he disappointing in you? Your thoughts began crowding your head, causing a headache.

All of a sudden, the sun was too bright, the breathing around you was too loud, and your heart was beating erratically, echoing in your ears. Time seemed to slow to a crawl, and you wanted to hide in a corner and hope your problems would be solved.

Reaper stood far enough from you, but even then he saw the panicked expression plainly on your face. He watched as the faces of many of your friends turn to you, some with sympathy, some with disgust, but the majority with disappointment or shock.

Reaper laughed cruelly, "I'm sorry, did I upset the little Shimada?"

76 looked down at you, his eyebrows raised in disbelief. You were sure that what little trust he had for you was broken, and he would be scowling if he knew you could see his face.

"Stop talking bullshit and leave. The kid has nothing to do with this." 76 pointed his gun in his direction, readying his stance defensively. Was he... defending your honor?

"Haven't you been listening? Little Shimada has everything to do with this. This was what will break the silly family you've built up. How does it feel to know that your daughter is a Talon agent, Genji Shimada? How does it feel to know your daughter has been right in front of your stupid masked face the entire time? Wonderful, I'd imagine," Reaper chuckled darkly as if he had said something funny.

You had been staring at your father while Reaper had his little monologue, and you could see Genji's hand tense and un-tense around the handle of his katana over and over again.

"Genji?" You softly murmured, a clear crack halfway between your syllables.

"Seems like daddy can't hear you, little Shimada. Perhaps you should have taken the initiative and told him yourself."

You gritted your teeth, anger finally overtaking fear. "Shut up. Why don't you go home? It's not Halloween yet." A flame had been kindled and was beginning to burn. This was the same flame that your meditation sessions with Genji were trying to stamp out. This flame would continue building onto whatever was around it until everything burned. You knew you would regret allowing the rage consume you, but you didn't care anymore. You wanted to see the man causing your grief to suffer.

He was going to b u r n.

Your face betrayed nothing. It was almost as if you were numb to the outside world because a storm had taken over your mind. This storm would take out the source of your pain, too.

"Tsk, what a shame you don't work for us," you vaguely heard Reaper speak. He suddenly brought his hand to his comm device, catching your attention as your vision turned razor sharp. "Bring her in," his voice seemed to boom loudly while your hearing enhanced.

The sound of a fearful woman emerged from the building of hostages. You mildly recognized her until you saw her face. But when you saw her, the last straw had been pulled, and your vision turned red.

Because you had to make sure nobody was going to hurt your mother ever again
