(Veronica's POV)

I woke up to my alarm at 5 am. I was not going to be late for my first day of school so I set my alarm for extra early. Usually I would turn off my alarm and go back to sleep, but not today.

I got dressed in my favorite casual outfit. I went into the bathroom and did my makeup and hair. I did in nicely but not to fancy. I didn't want it to seem like I was trying to hard. I ran downstairs and there was Uncle Steve in the kitchen making his famous waffles.

"What are you doing up so early?" I asked. Steve never woke up early.

"I decided that for your first ever day of school I'd make you some special first day waffles." He replied as if it was totally normal that he was up at this hour. The waffles did smell really good, and I was happy that he had thought to do this for me. He was sort of like a second dad to me and has always been there when my dad couldn't be.

"The waffles will be ready in about 10 minutes." Steve told me.

I decided that to pass the time I would go watch the news in the living room. When I walked in, Natasha was sitting there watching the news with a cup of coffee.

"Hey, sweetie. Excited for your first day of school?" She asked when she saw me walk in. She seemed distracted and looked back at the TV.

"Ya! I'm so excited!" I replied, but she didn't seem to hear me. "Natasha?" I asked.

She didn't respond and kept staring at the TV. I walked over to where she was and looked at the TV. She was watching a news story about some guy with some sort of weapons. I decided that even though I usually love helping Natasha with Avenger looking stuff that I wasn't going to think about anything but school today. I walked back into the kitchen where a plate of waffles was sitting on the counter waiting for me. I sat down at the counter and started wolfing them down.

"Woah, slow down champ. You might give yourself a stomach cramp." Right as Steve said this my dad walked into the kitchen.

"Good morning sweetheart! Ready for your first day?" Dad asked. I responded with an enthusiastic nod, since my mouth was still full of waffles. "Geez it's almost 7:30 you should get ready to go. Happy is going to take you in this morning."

"Alright, sounds good to me!" I said and I hopped up and ran to my room to get my bag. When I came back downstairs Natasha and Bruce were talking to my dad in hushed voices. He looked worried, but when he saw me he put on a smile. I can tell when something is bothering him, he's good at hiding it but even Iron Man can't hide his emotions from his daughter.

"Is everything ok?" I asked.

"Yes, yes. Everything is fine." He said trying to reassure me. "Listen I need to go take care of some business, but have a great first day ok!" He said.

"Ok. Thanks dad!"

"Alright sweetie get going, you don't want to be late." He said. I gave him a hug and said goodbye to all the Avengers that were awake, and a started to walk towards the garage. "I love you!" My dad called out. "I love you too!" I yelled back. I got into the car with Happy and we drove off.

It took about 20 minutes to get from the compound to my new school. And each second I got more and more excited and nervous. Finally we pulled up to school.

"Do you want me to walk me in?" Happy asked.

"No, that's ok. That's more of a preschool sort of thing." I replied. He nodded his head. I gave him a hug and stepped out of the car. Happy rolled down the window. "Don't forget that your going to go to the principle's office first so he can give you everything you need." Happy said. "And good luck!"

All I could do was nod. Suddenly it was like I had lost all of my strength I was so nervous. I turned and looked at the school and took a deep breath. You can do this Veronica. Your a Stark, going to school will be easy.

I walked up the stairs and everyone started staring at me. I heard them whispering and could imagine that they were whispering about the fact that I was actually coming to their school. Everyone's eyes were on me and I felt like disappearing. I have lots of friends my age but they are all sort of like me in the way that their parents are famous and usually have something to do with the Avengers, but these kids were very different. They were actual normal teenage kids, and I had no idea how to handle it.

I walked inside and quickly found the principals office.

"Hello. You must be Veronica Stark." He said. All I did was nod. "Well, it's very nice to meet you. I would like to introduce you to someone. She is going to tour you around and hopefully can become your first friend. Veronica this is Lily." He said introducing me to a nice looking girl you just smiled at me.

"Nice to meet you." Lily said warmly. Finally someone who wasn't going to just stare at me. "Nice to meet you too." I said gaining my strength back.

"My first class is English, and you have it too." She said while looking at my schedule. "Come on!"

We walked to English. She talked the whole way telling me everything about the school, which teachers were nice and which were hard asses, who I should stay away from in terms of students, all the school activities, and well a bunch of other stuff I didn't really hear. I was looking around me in total awe as students went to their classes. It was so surreal being in an actual high school.

We got to our first class and took our seats. The teacher got up to the front of the class and of course the first thing he said was that I was a new student here. Everyone looked back at me and stared in total awe. I turned as red as a lobster. The teacher got everyone's attention back and said that we were doing a group project. Oh god! Now I'm going to have to be paired up with someone I don't know and immediately start working with them on my first ever day of school! This was a nightmare.

"Peter Parker. Pair up with Veronica Stark." I heard the teacher say.

I looked up and thought the name sounded familiar. That's when I saw him. Peter Parker. The same boy that I ran into back at the compound. He looked at me and smiled and started to walk over to me. Suddenly I wasn't scared anymore. Just seeing his sort of familiar smile made me feel as though I had nothing to worry about at all.
