It's Sunday and my mom always prepares big breakfasts on Sunday's. I don't know why she does it but I do know she got the idea from her mom growing up.
I make my way downstairs and can already smell bacon before I reach the bottom of the steps. "Good morning mom,smells good" I say. My mom remains silent and just gives me a smile. I take a seat at the table and scroll through Instagram as I patiently wait for my mom to fix my plate.
My mom places my plate in-front of me and makes her way to the fridge grabbing the orange juice. "Where's dad?" I ask my mom as she takes a seat. She shrugs her shoulders and doesn't say a word to me. "Seriously mom? Are you really going to ignore me?" I ask with anger in my voice. I hear a knock at the door and angrily stand up. "I'll get it. Since you want to ignore that too"I state.
"Good morning. I'm Dr.Sanchez" a lady with brunette hair says in a sweet hearted voice.She stretches her hand out for a handshake . "Excuse me, who?" I ask shaking her hand. "I'm the therapist you called? May I say,your voice sounded higher over the phone" she says leaded by a laugh. I look down at the ground and laugh under my breathe. "I'm sorry, come in. Take a seat" I say before shutting my door and rushing towards the kitchen.
"You got me a therapist!?" I ask my mom trying to whisper. "Yes. You need it" my mom says taking a bite of her blueberry pancakes. "Mom I do not need a therapist. I'm eighteen years old. What are you doing?" I ask along with hand movements. "You're confused and Dr.Sanchez is here to help you" my mom informs. My mom grabs me by the arm and forces me to sit across from Dr.Sanchez.
"So I've been informed that you're having confusing thoughts about your sexuality" Dr.Sanchez says as my eyes widen and looking back at my mom. "Look" I say looking back at Dr.Sanchez. "There's no mistake.I don't know what my mom said but trust me I'm fine" I explain. "Oh. Well you know a lot of kids your age go through these things" Dr.Sanchez adds. "Look I'm sorry to waste your time but I'm fine. Okay?" I snap. "Uhm okay.Well here's my card"she says before pulling out a small card with her information on it and handing it to me. "Call me if you have any questions,okay?" she finishes off with a smile.
