You were sleeping peacefully on the couch when all of a sudden a buzzer like noise pulled you from your sleep making your eyes snap open. You sat up and looked at a wall to see a red light that the sound was emanating from. Every room was equipped with the same red light to indicate when Loki would need something. It couldn't have later than two in the morning.

You let out a small sigh and fixed your hair, before walking through the living room and back to the control room. You walked through the door in the corner and approached Loki's cage. He scanned over you for a moment before saying, "Sorry, love, were you sleeping?"

You gave a small nod of your head before replying, "It's okay. What do you need?" "Well I am quite bored and as you can see, there isn't much to do here. I was hoping that maybe you could fetch me a book," Loki stated. You looked at him for a moment before replying, "Sure, what do you want to read?" Loki looked as though he was deep in thought before replying, "Surprise me."

You gave him a small smile and nodded your head before telling him, "I'll be back soon." You then began walking towards the door and Loki said, "I'll be waiting." You smiled to yourself but refused to turn back around and look at him, so you kept walking.

You walked out the door and to the library that the bunker had. You began looking through the books, trying to find one that Loki would actually like to read. You knew that he was a prisoner, but you felt the need not to disappoint him by bringing him back a book that he would despise. Your eyes continued to scan the shelves when suddenly they landed on a book.

The book was titled Atlas Shrugged and it was written by Ayn Rand and although it was a book that almost no one has heard of it, it expressed complex themes of the mind and the body. Your mind traveled to Loki as you picked up the book, running your hand over the cover of it.

Loki was a powerful god who was clearly very wise as he could trick almost anyone. But was  his power connected to how every inch of his body was feeling? According to Thor, Loki used to be a kind and loyal brother. You wanted to believe there was still some good in him, and something about the way he looked at you made you think that there was still good in him. You were hoping this book might help show that side of him.

You wrapped the book in your fingers and walked back to the control room, walking through the door and to the front of Loki's cell. He raised an eyebrow as if he was waiting for you to talk. "I brought you your book," you stated, showing him the book.

A small smile fell on Loki's face as he said, "Thank you, but the only way for you to give it to me is by opening my cage, correct?" You smirked as you replied, "Wrong." You walked to the wall just left of you and pushed a blue button. That button made it so that a small portion of the cell's glass basically disappear so that you could reach through. At most, it was the width of a forearm, from the elbow to the tip of the middle finger.

Loki walked over to the glass that was now open and let out a small sigh. "Next time you try to plan an elaborate escape, you should make sure I don't have fancy technology," you said with a small smile as you reached your hand with the book through the glass.

Loki looked at the book for a moment before taking it, his fingers grazing yours, making you glance up at him. Your eyes locked with his for a moment, before you looked away, pulling your hand out of the glass. "Uh, is there anything else you need?" you asked, looking back at him. He looked confused for a moment, thinking about something you had no knowledge of, before replying, "No, thank you, I am fine for now."

You nodded your head and then walked out of the room, heading back to your couch. You laid back on it, pulling a blanket over your entire body and turning the light off. You turned your show back on and began to drift off into sleep again.

Your mind was just beginning to think up a beautiful dream when you heard the buzzer go off. You groaned and threw the blankets off of yourself, looking up at the ceiling for a moment before rolling off the couch into a standing position. "Seriously?" you asked yourself, letting out a sigh as you began making your way through Loki's cell.

You finally reached the door and opened it, your hair still a little messy from your sleep, but you could care less at the moment. "Yes, Loki, how may I help you?" you asked, slightly irritated and yawning in the process.

Loki's classic smirk rested on his face. "Sorry love, were you sleeping again?" he asked sarcastically. You just shot a warning glare at him that made him chuckle. "I wanted to talk about the book," he stated. "You read it already?" you asked him. "I'm a fast reader," he replied. "Not that fast," you replied.

"Alright so maybe I have already read the book once or twice," he responded. "You've read the book?" you questioned, raising an eyebrow. "It was the first book I read when I got to Earth and had some time to spare," he explained.

You made a small face of approval and you processed his words. "My question is, how did you know which book to pick?" Loki asked you curiously. "It's one of my favorites too," you replied and Loki's eyes seemed to light up. "And it reminds me a little of you," you continued, looking down at the ground.

"How so?" he inquired, his eyes never leaving you. "It's themes of connecting the body and mind. You are obviously very capable of doing things with your mind, but I don't think you are connecting with your body well enough to use your abilities in the right way," you explained.

"I didn't realize you were a therapist," he replied wittily. "Not a therapist, just an optimist. Thor once told me stories about you and him. I think there is still some good in you whether you know it or not," you stated. Loki looked at you for a moment, feeling vulnerable, so he quickly put up a wall. "I hate to disappoint," he replied.

"You don't," you told him, smiling softly. "I'm going to bed now, for real this time, so is there anything else you need before I go?" you asked him. He shook his head no, his eyes leaving you as he paced his cell. "Alright then," you said, leaving the room and this time heading to your bedroom in the Bunker.

You got under the covers of the bed and relaxed into the mattress. You got comfortable and closed your eyes, thinking about Loki, and just as you were falling asleep, the buzzer went off again. This was going to be a very long night.
