Loki was pacing the Avengers Tower when suddenly the doors burst open and he felt his heart drop. The Avengers were carrying you inside the Tower and to the infirmary in the Tower. They didn't bother telling Loki what had happened, because they didn't think he'd care. They had never been more wrong.
Loki followed them to the infirmary and watched as one of the doctors Tony had hired began to try to save your life. All he could do was stare at you and hope that you'd survive. You had been the only person he had opened up to, the only woman he had ever cared for, the only woman he had ever loved, but you didn't know that. He needed you to know that, even if you didn't feel the same way.
He ran a hand through his hair as he watched the Avengers scramble around you, trying to figure out a way to help you. Eventually, the doctors kicked the team out, needing to focus and needing space that the team was taking up.
Slowly the team passed Loki, making their way to the living room, but before Thor could walk past Loki, Loki pulled him aside. "What happened?" Loki asked his brother, refusing to look away from you through the window in the infirmary. "One of the scientists shot her twice. She never saw it coming," Thor stated before asking, "Why do you care?"
Loki let out a small sigh and looked at his brother for a moment, but the look he gave Thor said everything. There was so much fear, love and panic in Loki's eyes that even though he never said the words, Thor knew what Loki was thinking.
"You care for her," Thor stated as if he was in complete disbelief that he was even saying it. Loki just lowered his head which was all the confirmation Thor needed. "She will be alright, brother, I promise," Thor reassured his brother. There was no way Thor was going to let you die now. You had been the only light in Loki's life, and he'd be damned if he let that light fade away.

You slowly fluttered your eyes, trying to get them to open, but they felt insanely heavy. You twitched a finger, trying to regain the feeling of your body. "Y/N?" you heard a voice say softly as if it was unsure of itself. You'd recognize that voice from anywhere. It belonged to the God you had fallen in love with, and that voice pushed you to open your eyes.
When you did, you saw his broken, tear-stained face. "Loki?" you asked, making sure you were awake. "I'm here, love, I'm right here," he said softly, placing kisses on your hand that you just realized he was holding. "I tried to be careful," you told him, hoping he wasn't mad at you.
"It's okay, everything's okay because you're still here with me," he replied, stroking your hair. You smiled at him, but before you could say anything back, the rest of the team came in, causing Loki to move his hands and leave the room.

You were healing up really nicely. The Avengers came in to check on you on a regular basis which meant that you didn't get to see a whole lot of Loki. Now, you felt like you could move around a whole lot better, so you climbed out of your hospital bed and walked to your bedroom that was connected to Loki's room.
You entered the room and looked at your stuff before going to the door in the room that led to Loki's room. You sighed softly, before knocking on the door. You waited for a moment before the door swung open and Loki was standing there.
"Y/N? What are you doing out of bed?" Loki asked. "I wanted to see you," you replied with a small smile. Loki nodded his head and let you in the room, moving away from the door. He appeared to be looking everywhere but at you, so you asked, "Are you okay?"
"Fine," Loki replied, still not looking at you. You knew something was up, so you moved closer to him and said, "Seriously, Loki, what's going on?" Loki let out a small sigh before looking you in the eyes and replying, "It's nothing really. I just...I've never cared for a woman, let alone a mortal...and then you almost died...Well, really it's that I never told you."
You tried to put all of the fragments Loki was saying into a complete sentence as Loki kept rambling on. "Loki," you said, making him stop his rambling. "I love you," you told him, hoping that's what he was trying to get at.
A smile spread across his face as he asked, "You do?" You smiled and nodded your head as Loki responded, "I love you too." He then pulled you into a kiss and stroked your cheek with his thumb. You ran your fingers through his hair as he hands trailed to your hips pulling you closer.
For the first time ever you and Loki had found someone who completes you. Someone you love unconditionally. Someone you both want to spend the rest of your lives with.
