"Just an average girl, she always wore a smile, she was cheerful and happy for a short while"

Lance jumped up on Hunks shoulders and knuckled his head as his laugh echoed through the castle. Hunk grinned and slammed a bowl of cake batter in his face. 'Its on now!'

"Now she's older, things are getting colder, life's not what she thought, she wished someone had told her"

Lance sat in his bare room and held the photo of his family in his hands, the only thing he had of them this far away in space. A tear drop trickled down his face as he hugged the polaroid tight to his chest. 'I promise to come home as soon as I can, just wait for me, please,"

"She told you she was down, you let it slip by"

'Hey Shiro, can I talk to you?' Lance knocked at Shiro's door and slowly entered.

'What's up? I'm just getting in some training you know. I heard that exercise actually makes you happy, so I asked Hunk to make me some health food and all that to help with the training, though I feel like with this arm its kinda cheating, also what if this arm gets really buff and this one doesn't, that would look so weird,' He kept rambling on but Lances smile kept fading as he continued to talk. 'Anyways, what's up?'

Lance quickly smiled again as Shiro looked up at him and held the door frame. 'Oh, it doesn't matter anymore, sorry. See ya!' Lance hurriedly ran out of the room leaving Shiro confused but he just brushed it off.

"So from then on she kept it on the inside"

Lance turned the corner and leaned against the wall, head tilted back. He clenched his fist and dug his nails into his palm as the the tears streamed down his face. He turned around and rested his forehead against the cold surface, his arms hiding his face, until he heard foot steps coming down the hallway.

'Hey Lance, what's up- Lance?' Lance quickly wiped away the tears and ran off as Keith approached. If Keith saw him crying, he would never hear the end of it.

'Was... he... crying?' Keith touched the wall Lance was leaning against and saw the tears that ran down the slick surface.

"She told herself she was alright,"

He ran to his bed and clutched onto his pillow, calming himself down. 'Ugh, what is wrong with you, hehe.' He shook his head and got up. He opened the door to the bathroom and looked into the mirror, his eyes were puffy and his nose was pink but his smile was still genuine,

"But she was telling white lies, can't you tell? Look at her dull eyes"

But that's not what his hands on the basin were saying. They were white from how tightly he gripped the sink, they were cut from all the times he dug his nails into his skin. His wrists told a different story as well. The cuts were multiplying by the week and there was more skin slashed than there was healed. He still smiled though, scared that if his smile faulted, for even one second, he might lose himself and never come back.

"Tried to stop herself from crying almost every night"

He sat at his desk and fiddled with his bayard, he kept glancing at the photo of his family, he couldn't tear his eyes off it. A small bubble rose in his throat that he choked back but his eyes were already streaming down tears. He clutched his bayard tightly as it changed into a gun. He slammed it down on the desk and pushed himself out of his chair and stalked over to the training room.
