-Six years later-

Having a metal leg had its perks, but lugging it around when you're exhausted from a recon mission was not one of those perks.

"You alright back there Shadow?" Hunk called from the entrance of the space craft. "You normally love to be the first one onto the ramp." You grinned, forcing your aching limbs to move a little faster.

"Sorry, it's just, he isn't exactly the lightest thing." You pointed out, motioning to the passenger you were giving a piggy back ride to. Hunk hoisted his own rider a little further up his back. His expression told you just how much he understood.

"How about we walk out together then?" Hunk suggested, as if who went out first was the most of their worries. You nodded. Taking up position beside him, you turned to the vast double doors of the hangar. Eager to get back to the safety of the Minakan Moon.

Recently, you and Hunk had been assigned to help protect the borders of the Minakan population, which surprisingly reached across at least half of the galaxy. As of late, you had gotten news of Haggar's ascent to the Galra Throne, so Hanaka had decided it would be best to bring their people onto the same planet in order to protect them. Hunk had been assigned to the mission as the staff chef, where as you were viewed as a valuable combatant should anything hostile turn up while the soldiers were loading up the refugees.

Pidge had taken to helping in the control room of the Minakan city. With technology vastly improving across the Moon, the council had come to the conclusion that someone with experience should take charge in managing it. Lance on the other hand, spent his days training the flight cadets in case of an air battle. The years flying the blue lion had made him an expert pilot amongst the other fliers.

With a soft bump, the cruiser touched down in the landing bay. The refugees around you seemed to come back to life as a faint chugging sound started up. With a satisfying click, the bay doors slid open. Basking the dark room in the reds and ambers of the setting sun. Behind you, the sound of footsteps approached, as the people you had helped save began to prepare themselves for departure.

"RIGHT EVERYONE! CAN YOU ALL HEAR ME?" The captain of the ship declared over the growing din of hundreds of voices. A hush fell on the cruiser. "WE WILL DISEMBARK SHORTLY! FIRST, MAY I HAVE THOSE IN NEED OF FIRST AID FOLLOW HUNK AND SHADOW OUT AND DOWN THE RAMP TO YOUR LEFT!"

He nodded to Hunk and you in turn before continuing to bark orders. Inclining your head in his direction, you followed Hunk out into the sunset. Compared to the ship, the fresh air of the hangar was like a dream. Medical personnel buzzed around the bottom of the ramp like ants, while troops marched along in rows of four.

Following Hunk, you somehow managed to keep up with your prophetic leg and transport your passenger safely into the arms of a waiting nurse. He was unconscious, so you didn't bother to comfort him while the doctors did their thing, instead, you stepped back to allow the rest of the wounded to make their way towards the treatment station.

"Good work out there." Hunk congratulated you with a hearty pat on the back. Grinning, you reached up to take off your helmet.

"You're not too rusty yourself." You complimented him, giving your friend a playful punch to the arm. Hunk rolled his eyes before turning to leave. Probably to see what the cooks had decided to serve for dinner in his absence. No sooner had he left, a new face took his place.

"How did it go?" Hanaka asked casually, as you finished loosening the straps on your helmet. Removing the sweaty head gear, you nodded enthusiastically.

"All went according to plan." You reported with a salute, making Hanaka giggle.

"Please, you know you don't need to be so formal with me." Hanaka ordered sternly. It was your turn to grin. Arching an eyebrow, you continued to explain the details of the mission as the pair of you made your way towards the main base.
