Chapter 10

Once I got to the condo I laid down and thought about what just happened then I felt a tear roll down my cheek. I don’t know all I know is August really likes me and I can tell, but Steelo loves me. I finally fell asleep. When I woke up that morning and did my hygiene. I went and got my hair, nails, and toenails did and afterwards I called Adaora.

DORA: Hey momma

ME: Hey chick what’s up?

DORA: I haven’t talked to you in a good minute.

ME: Yea I’ve been going through a trail of confusion lately.

DORA: What’s up?

ME: So I ran into Steelo.

DORA: Your Steelo from high school?

ME: Yes

I finished telling her the story.

DORA: Follow your heart, not you mind. I know you love Steelo but I don’t think you two need to ruin the friendship you have not saying you two can’t flirt but if you and August don’t work you will always have Steelo but if you lose your chance with August you have no one. I know you wanted to marry Steelo but it’s time to find someone else. You have waited and waited for Steelo and he has had plenty of girls since you. So go tell August how you feel and what’s going on.

ME: Ok I’ll call you later.

After I got to the condo I went and changed clothes and then knocked on August door.

(OUTFIT IN EXTERNAL)

He opened the door and had his shirt off. “Hey August.” I said waving. “Hey ma what’s up?” He said looking concerned and stepping outside of his door. “I just wanted to-,” Then someone opened the door. “August baby come back- oh hi.” It was India Westbrook. “Oh um hi” I said. “Go back in I’ll be in there in a minute.” August said. “You know what it doesn’t matter anymore. It wasn’t even important honestly.” I faked laughed and fast walked off whipping the tears from my face. I went to the house and sat there on my bed with my legs wide open staring into the mirror then I stood up and kicked it busting the glass. I called Adaora.

DORA: Hey how did it go?

ME: Bring me something to drink and something I can get high off of and I’ll pay you back.

DORA: What’s up? Are you-,

I hung up the phone in her face a whipped my tears.

30 minutes later I heard a knock on the door and I looked through the peep hole and it was Adaora. I tried whipping the tears away but they wouldn’t stop coming then I finally just took my hand a whipped them away. Then I opened the door. “Serenity, are you ok?” I nodded and then shook my head. “What happened.” She asked. I started to explain to here and then I burst out crying and I threw my arms around her. “It’ll be ok, Serenity. I’ll stay the night if you want but I have to go run a few errands.” I nodded and she walked out of the condo.

Then I get a text alert on my phone I look at it and it was Steelo and I began to read. “Remember follow your heart, just because of what happened last night doesn’t mean you have to choose me. I want you to be happy Te. We will always have love for each other regardless because you’re not only my first love but you’re my best friend. Love you Te! Sincerely, Steelo” I threw the phone against the wall and walked over to it and stomped it with my boots.

Then I grabbed my keys and my phone and walked out of the door and looked down the hall to see August and India all hugged up. “Hey Serenity” August said waving. Did he think this shit was a joke? I just stood there and stared at his ass like are you fucking serious. Then I walked of before I went off.  I got in my car and sped off I went to a Bob Marley place where the sold weed in the back. I went in and men started looking and saying stuff to me. “What’s up baby, lemme get that ass.” Another saying “Damn shawty I’ll take good care of you.” I continued to walk to the back and bought what I needed and went out. I hopped in my car and went apple care.

When I walked in I saw Steelo and I put my head down and walked past him. “I can see you Te.” I turned around and half smiled and hugged him. “What’s going on you lookin rough” I frowned at him. “I have a lot going on.” He nodded “Did you get my text sweet Te.” I nodded and raised my phone up. “Damn how you do that?” He asked. “You sure you wanna know?” I asked. “I don’t really know if I want to, so no I’m good.” He smiled. I put my head down. “Come on Te spill.” I told him what’s been going on and everything. “Te he likes you it’s just you confusing him yourself, men don’t really take hints well. Try again tomorrow and see what happens, my friends told me in high school when I wanted to date you to not give up and I didn’t. A few days later I had the most beautiful and talented girl calling me hers at school. Give him a shot.” I nodded and hugged Steelo. “Thank you Steelo, for putting my happiness before your wants.” He pecked my lips. “No matter what your name will always be Serenity Makayla Brim Green, Text me and tell me how things go.” I smiled and nodded and we parted.

After I got done getting my phone fixed at apple care better yet got a new one. I got in my car and went back to the condo and when I got out August and India were in the lobby holding hands. I put my head down and walked by and then I heard India speak “Hi um, Mrs. Flight attendant.” I paused where I was. “What cats got your tongue?” She continued. “If you say one more damn word to me I’m going to sprint over there and bash your fucking head into the wall then slam you through it.” I said low to let her know I wasn’t joking with the bitch. August eyes grew wide. “Serenity you ok.” He asked. I just stared at him. “Why you ask you because I ain’t cursed a bitch out in front of you or is it that I never had to, you bringing unnecessary shit and un-needed emotions because you don’t know what the fuck you want August!” I said walking towards him with my finger pointed at him. “You kissed me the other night. What the fuck was that huh August fucking Alsina. Yea bitch he kissed me.” I said jerking my head to India. “But you aren’t by yourself August cause I don’t know what the hell I want either. At least I don’t go bring my friend here after we kiss and rub that shit in yo fucking face, but August I don't need you I swear I don't need you but I want you. And I damn sure don't mean to but I'm falling in love with you." He began to speak "Serenity I-I-," "Come again." I said leaning towards him to hear the bull that was about to come out of his mouth.

“Bitch get the fuck out of your feelings.” India said. Next thing I know my hand was on India’s head pulling her hair and pulling her into the hall so no one would see me whoop her ass. Then I socked her dead in her face and slammed her into the wall. Next thing I know August’s security guard are pulling me off of her. “Let me down, I’m good man.” I said kicking. He sat me on my feet and I dusted myself off and ran to my room and closed the door and fell against it and put my head between my legs.
