Chapter 8

Serenity POV

Once I got out of the tub hear a knock at the door so I slip on my robe and go to see who is there. I open the door and I was totally shocked at what I saw. August had on a blue suit the color of my dress. “You got the memo; it’s some like prom night. She told us super late and even if we don’t match would you be my date?” He said with his hands behind his back. I smiled. “Yes I will be your date, I just have to go change and we can head out.” I said motioning for him to come in. I shut the door behind him and went to put on my dress and accessories. When I walked into the living room August stood up from the couch and said “Wow ma, you look a-a-amazing.” You could tell by the expression on his face he was stunned.

“Why thank you, you look quite handsome yourself.” He smiled and winked. Just before we headed out I asked “August why are your hands still behind you back?” Then he gave me a dozen blue roses. When we headed out August’s security guards were in front of us and August put on his shades because paparazzi was crazy with their camera flashes. Once we got to the limo August opened the door for me to get in and he hoped in behind me. “Serenity you look stunning….beautiful.” I blushed. “Thank you.” He smiled a little. Just then August got a text message on his phone. I wasn’t gonna be nosey so I turned and looked out the window thinking about Sterling (Steelo). I could shake those thoughts and I went into a daze.

“Aye Serenity come we’re here come on.” August said holding his hand out to help me out the limo. Then he kissed my hand and we linked our arms together and walked into the party. Once we walked in all heads turned. It was nice on the inside (very nice). Sharra ran over to me and we hugged. “Hey August.” She said as she hugged him. She continued “Ok so August you are up first and Serenity you are last. Good luck.” I smiled and so did August and we went to find a table. Once we got seated we were given some champagne. “So when do you head back off to work.” “Hopefully no time soon.” I replied thinking about Sterling.

IN MY HEAD: Come on Serenity, shake this thought you are with August not………. Steelo.

“Why hopefully no time soon?” Dammit Serenity. “Umm because…. I’m enjoying the NY life and then my old bo- Umm my best friend is gonna be down here too. He nodded his head with his eye brow up. “You sure you not staying for me?” He smirked. “I’m not telling you yes or no.” He chuckled. “That’s because you gone say yes lil ma.” I shook my head and laughed. Then someone came over the mic. The MC started to speak “I am you MC for the night and first we want to welcome Mr. August Alsina.” The crowd went crazy. “Good luck” I said putting my thumbs up. “You too.” He said as he pecked my forehead. That started me to thinking about Steelo all over again and how he kissed my head and played in my hair. I shook off the thoughts.

When August was finished singing I went onto the stage and began to speak into the mic. “How you beautiful and handsome people doing tonight? No I can’t hear you, I said how y’all doing tonight?” The crowd was going wild just how I wanted them. Then I began to sing.

 The crowd was going wild “Thank You” I said humbly into the mic. I took a bow put my hand together as if I was going to pray and thanked the crowd and walked off stage. “You were amazing, and thank you.” Sharra said. We hugged and everyone talked up until 12:00 then everyone started to leave. The ride to the condo with August was quiet until he spoke. “You were amazing out there.” “And so were you.” I replied smiling. “What made you sing that song?” He asked. “I-I don’t know I guess that’s what God put on my heart to sing so that’s what I sung.” I really honestly didn’t know why I choose that song maybe God did put it on my heart, but he does everything for a reason.

Once we made it to the condo August opened the door for me and put his hand out and I got out of the limo. He then walked me to my door. I stood in front of my door and he leaned on the wall on the opposite side of the hall. “Well I guess this is goodnight lil ma.” He said smiling. “Well I guess so.” Then August got up and kissed me while holding my chin. I couldn’t help it so I kissed back. Then he broke the kiss and I stared blankly at him. He smirked and said “Goodnight Serenity.” And walked to his condo and went in, and I just stood there. (5 minutes later) I was still standing in front of my door and then my phone rang and it was Steelo.

He would call right after…. That. I picked up the phone and walked into the room and sat on the couch. “Hey Steelo butt hole.” I said laughing. “Hey Te and don’t call me that Serenity rusted mole.” We laughed. “Hey Te could you come pick me up I was driving from work and somebody had some glass in the rode now my tire on flat.” “Yea, just text me where you are and I got you.” “Ok” I said hanging up the phone. I was tired and really didn’t feel like going but I got up because I know if it were I he would be the first person I’d call. Once I made it to the place he texted me (A Beach) I saw him standing down by the water with a white suit on. I took off my shoes and crept up behind him and wrapped my arms around him. Then he turned around and his eyes got wide.

“You look absolutely stunning.” “Thank you.” I said blushing. “Follow me.” He said. “Where are we going?” I asked confused. “You’ll see.” He said taking my hand.
