When Robin came to see Ivy again, he brought her a gift. His book. He handed it to her through the bars.
"I mean, I don't even know if you read. O-or like to, but I found this book very fascinating."
Ivy looked at the binding on the book. "Is this thing a thousand years old?"
He laughed. "Well its an oldie but a goodie!"
Ivy shrugged. "Alright." Robin was pleased that she would read it. He coughed and cleared his throat. She looked at him with confusion, blinking with eyebrows scrunched.
"You're welcome." He coughed.
"Thank you for the gift." She rolled her eyes. It was a habit of her's.
"You are very welcome." He said clearly, with a huge grin.
"So... I was wondering. Since I know your name, and you can see me, clearly. Could you maybe... take off the mask? I just want to see you like you are normally." She asked, hesitantly.
"Um..." what would Bruce think of me? He thought. Is she really evil? Or does she really care... I care. "There are security cameras." He finally said.
"Can't you turn them off or something?" She said in a, 'well duh' kind of voice. So she doesn't want to expose me. He wondered if she was tricking him, but it seemed like she was just being herself.
"Well yeah, but..." he trailed off, looking for an explanation.
"Please?" She asked with hopeful eyes. Those hazel-emerald eyes were just begging. "Please, Grayson?" Robin melted. There wasn't anything seductive about this. But somehow this made Robin squirm. She was close to the bars now. And he took a step closer, not thinking. He stared at her pink lips, then her eyes. She was looking at him too. Did she have the same feeling as him?
"Yes." He whispered.
Her eyes widened. "Yes?"
"Yes, yes I'll get Caroline to turn off the security cameras and I'll take my mask off for you!" He added, 'for you'. Because he would only do this for her. After all, he'd never done this for anyone. Ivy cheered and jumped up and down. She was excited to see his face. His voice was so calming and sweet, she wondered if his face was any better.
Robin was downstairs leaning over Caroline's desk.
"I promise nothing will happen. And just her cell is around Wing B so we won't risk anyone escaping."
"I'm just not sure." Caroline said sweetly.
"Caroline, look, I save people. I capture villains all the time! I've been spending a lot of time with Ivy and I think she can handle this. She just wants to be unwatched for a moment. She's safe with me." He didn't tell her he was taking off his mask, he just told her she wanted to feel normal and to have a few minutes without someone watching her every move. "Trust me."
"Well, if she's with you... I suppose I can do that for you." She then pushed a button to her left and one TV screen shut off and was black. "No one can see her now."
"Thank you so much!" He thanked her and left for Ivy, practically jumping up and down. Believe it or not, he wanted some alone time with her too. He was a little excited to take off his mask. How rebellious he felt! But also he understood. It's weird being watched all the time.
Ivy waited in her cell, excited. Maybe she had been different. She was feeling something for Dick Grayson that she had never felt before. Suddenly, she saw him run down the hall.
"They're off!" He said with a wicked grin on his face.
Ivy giggled. "Wow. You did it!"
"I'm Robin, of course I did it." He puffed out his chest. Her head leaned back and she laughed. Once their silliness died down, he took a deep breath. He was going to do it. Take off his mask. She thought the same thing. Then, he reached up and carefully took off his black mask covering his face. His hands came down and his head lifted towards her.
"Wow." She breathed. She had never seen anyone so handsome in her entire life. He was only sixteen but he was adorable as hell. She came a little closer, reached her fingers through the bars and touched his cheek. His skin was so soft. The thing she loved the most, was that when their skin met, he didn't flinch or shudder in fear. He just looked into her eyes. Both of their hearts were racing. Her feelings were being bubbled up inside of her for too long. She had to let something out. "It's worth 5,000,000 dollars."
"What?"
"The jewel."
