I'm driving my way to Lisa's apartment to pick her up. We decided to go to James' party together. Suddenly, my phone rings. It's her who's calling. I answer the call and put her on loud speaker.
"Hey Jennie!" She greets cheerfully.
"Hey."
"Are you on your way?" She asks.
"Yes. I'm driving right now. I'll call you back, okay?"
"Oh. Sorry. Drive safely. I miss you."
"Yeah. I miss you too, Lisa. See you in a bit." And I end the call.
After graduating high school, we attended different universities. She went to a dance academy. Lisa is such a graceful dancer. She took a lot of dance workshops when we're younger. We were in high school when she decided to focus on the artistry of dancing. That's why she quit the cheering squad and tried classical ballet. Rhythm is like her twin sister. She moves in every beat with elegance. Lisa is now a part of a ballet dance group that tours around the country. She is indeed born for the stage.
As for me, I studied in a conservatory of music. Music is my soul and sanctuary; healing and sweet escape. The harmonizing sound of ebony and ivory brings joys to my heart. Every melody I create sings my untold feelings. I work now as a music producer for a famous record label. We're both busy with our work so we rarely see each other.
I park my car in the parking lot across Lisa's apartment building. As I'm about to cross the street, I hear my phone rings again.
"Hey. Where are you?" Lisa asks.
"I'm already here. I'm about to cross the street."
"Quick. I need your help."
"Why? What's the problem?" I ask.
"I can't choose an outfit."
"Seriously, Lisa?" I hang up the phone and crosses the street.
Lisa's apartment unit is on the third floor so I decided to use the stairs instead. I knock on her door and she immediately hugs me.
"I missed you so much." Lisa says as she releases me from the tight hug.
"I missed you too. So, let's get you dressed."
We hurried to her room and she showed me three outfits. The first one is a lilac colored chiffon dress with ruffles on its neckline. The second one is pink off shoulder blouse with floral print paired with high waist denim pants. The last one is white long sleeves blouse paired with black pencil skirt.
"Which one is the best?" Lisa asks.
"I like the first one. I think you will look cute on that dress."
"Okay. I'll wear them now."
Lisa takes off her shirt and then her sweat pants. It's normal for us to change clothes in front of each other. But ever since my feelings changed for her I started feeling awkward at this kind of situation. I pretend to use my phone while she's changing but I can't stop taking glances at her body. I can feel my cheeks turn red every time she sees me looking at her. God, she's just wonderful.
"J." She calls.
"Y- Yeah?"
"Can you zip it up?" She asks showing me her open back.
"Su- Sure thing." I reply almost choking.
I walk towards her making us few inches away from each other. At that distance, I can smell her spring like fragrance. I want to bury my face in the crook of her neck and inhale all this sweet scent. But no, I can't. I collect her hair making the back of my hand touch her nape and I feel the same spark I felt from the day I started loving her. I ask her to hold her hair up so it won't get caught up in the zipper but I immediately regret it. I'm tempted to touch the back of her neck and to caress her cottony soft skin. Luckily, I was able to control myself. Lisa always drives me crazy but I love it.
I stare at her back for a while appreciating her beautifully curved spine wondering how can someone be this perfect and flawless. I pick the zipper and slowly slide it up covering Lisa's back. I look at Lisa from her reflection in the mirror to see her lovely face but she's looking down on her feet. She suddenly look up at me and I give her my biggest smile.
She then turns to face me and look me in the eyes leaving me shocked and paralyzed by her gaze. She has the most beautiful pair of eyes. The brightest hazel nut eyes I have ever seen.
None of us is saying any words. We're just here, looking deeply at each others' eyes. And the longer she stares at me, the faster my heart beats. I'm afraid she can hear my heart trying to escape from my chest.
"You look beautiful." I say. I don't know if I should be happy that I was able to stop the current awkward situation. Or be embarrassed because I might have exposed my true feelings.
"Thanks." She replies and breaks the close gap between us. She then goes to her vanity to fix her hair.
"You're welcome." I say but she did not bother to look at me.
"I'll wait for you in the car."
"Okay." She replies but still no look from her.
