***Cameron's P.O.V.***
When we pull into the driveway of Nash's house, I see Grace outside pacing frantically. "Grace, what's wrong?" Nash says while stepping out of the car.
"Desserea locked herself in the closet and isn't answering when we talk to her. We're afraid that she's done something to herself," a worried look washes over her face.
"Let me take care of this," I storm into the house and head towards the closet. Stopping at the closet, I brush my knuckles against the door. "Des, it's Cameron," I softly speak.
No answer.
"Des?" my voice stays at a soft tone, but raises just a bit.
Again, no answer.
"Babe, please open the door. I'm here to comfort you," I plead. Honestly, I have no clue what is going on in there. No noise, no movement, not even a breath can be heard from the closet. All that's heard, is dead silence. "Please?" my voice starts to sound like a whimper.
Turning around, I press my back against the door and slowly slide down until I hit the ground. My knock stretches back, making the arch of my head tough the door.
"Baby, please answer me. I'm worried about you."
Like I said, dead silence.
I knock once more, hoping for an answer, but nothing happens. "Come on, please come out.". Des is hiding something. I know that her past is rough, but she can't keep trying to run away from it.
I come up with a good idea,"Des, do you love me?". Still nothing. "Do you love me?". Who knew that silence was so loud?
"Yes," a quiet squeak comes from the closet. My chest drops as I let out a huge sigh.
"Then come out and talk to me. We can go somewhere alone." she opens the door. Poor baby, her hair presses to her moist cheeks and her bloodshot eyes, tell me that she been crying. Drops of water stain her arms, as if her face was buried into them. "Aw, honey." I pull her into a hug and she starts to cry.
"Nash, can we go talk in your room for a few minuets?" he nods and Desserea and I walk to his bedroom. I lock the door behind me and sit down on the bed. She sits down, facing me, and places her head in my shoulder. Small cries are released from her. Stroking her back, I soothe her aching heart.
"Wanna tell me why you were are locked in a closet?"
"He's gonna find us in Maui, I just know it. And I'm afraid he's gonna kill our baby before it's even born." her frazzled eyes look so damp and sad.
"You mean Nathan?" god, I hate Nathan with all my life. First of all, he's crazy, rude, does drugs, and treats Des like a piece of shit. And he doesn't give a damn about her.
"No, I mean Owen and Damian. Owen has wanted me dead since my brother passed away."
"Wait, Owen as in your dad Owen?" not gonna lie, her family does have a lot of issues.
"Yes, I'm afraid my father is going to hurt or kill Ellie and our baby." eyes remain locked on the pillow in her lap.
"Why would he-"
"He's been trying to kill me since Devon died! He thinks that it's all my fault for Devon's death and he thinks that I'm the reason Nathan's in prison!"
"Poor thing, I had no idea." I sympathetically say while bringing her into a hug.
"Wanna go check on Ellie?" I say, trying to get off of the topic we were originally on. She nods and we drive to the hospital. Desserea's soft face looks so depressed and sad. I just feel so bad for her.
Dead brother.
Psycho brother.
Insane father.
Growing up at the hospital.
Being haunted by her past.
It's just horrible that she has to suffer through that. Nobody deserves that, especially her. Moving to Maui will be a good thing, we can get away from all this dramatic shit that our town has brought to us.
When we get there, we head strait to Ellie without any hesitation. Ellie is peacefully sleeping in the bed. It's so strange how much she's grown. I feel as if I barely know her cause most of her life so far has been spent with Damian. I sit down next to the bed and stare at my baby girl sleep.
A very feminine woman, the doctor, walks in. "Good news, we can release your daughter today! But she will need to take some medication and I'm gonna to have you guys sign some papers." she hands me a clipboard with some paper clipped to it. I sign where she tells me and agree to give Ellie her medication.
"Your free to take your daughter home," she smiles. Delicately, I pick up Ellie from the bed and carry her in my arms. Des looks at her and a smile forms in the corner of her mouth.
"You sure your okay with moving to Maui?"
"Yes, as long as our family is safe." she kisses Ellie's forehead.
Sorry it's not a good chapter, but whatever. I feel like you guys don't like this as much as Being Daddy, so I might put it on pause for a while. And idk if Cameron has, but I really want him to read the first book, so if you don't mind telling him about it please tell him😁. Bye bye for now Fighter👋!
