"The trial is in three days," my lawyer says. "And they're going to try to twist your words. Just relax your mind and know what you need to say and stick to it. Don't 'I think' or 'I'm pretty sure.' Always be sure and stick to it, okay?" I nod my head.
"I've seen enough Law and Order, I'll be fine," he nods his head. "Can we go home now?" I ask my mom.
"Of course. Besides you still got school tomorrow. And winter break is almost here. And you can rest all you want," my mom kisses my forehead. "Lets go." We leave his office and step outside. "Fuck, I left my car keys. I'll be right back," she walks back inside and I start walking to the car.
A tap on my shoulder makes me turn around. And before I know it, everything goes black.
~~~
I can feel myself waking up, but I can't move my body. "Struggling is gonna make it worse," a raspy voice say. My arms and legs are tied. There's something over my head and something in my mouth. Instead of trying to fight it, I just stay still, quiet and weak. "We're almost there." This doesn't sound like Tyler. We hit a bump and my head hits something. The seat I suppose. I groan in pain. "Sorry about that, the road's can get bumpy up here." After what seems like hours, the car or van, whatever it is, stops. Someone pulls me by my feet out of the car. I let them lead me to wherever we're going. I hear a door open and the wood creaking. The person sits me down on a chair and I can feel them tying my feet to it. Then they tie my hands behind it. They take the sac off my head and I adjust my eyes to the awkwardly dim lights.
"Thank you," another voice says from across the room, but I can't see him, but I know it's Tyler. The door slams behind me and I jump a little. "Hello Zaya."
"Hi Tyler," I muffle.
"How are you?" I roll my eyes at the darkness since I can't see him. "Don't you fucking roll you eyes at me!" I see him quickly move through the darkness until he's right in front of my face. "You will respect me Zaya," he runs his hands over my face. I close my eyes and look away. I don't want to see his face. Or smell the overuse of cologne on him. It's suffocating. "Fucking look at me!" He yells. I turn my head and look him dead in the eyes. "Gosh you're so beautiful," he kisses me through the rag thats tied around my mouth. "You know, this cottage is my brothers and he left it to me to use while he's out of the country in the UK, studying for college. And I never really cares for it. But now, I realize that we can spend our lives here. It can house 4 people. Isn't it perfect?" My phone vibrates. I had my phone on me this whole time? He looks over at me and smirks. "Silly silly girl." He reaches his hand behind me and takes my phone out of my pocket. "Aww momma bunny is asking where you are? What should I say?" I motion him to take the rag out of my mouth. And so he does.
"Tell her that Caleb picked me up and dropped me off at a steakhouse to get a steak."
"Smart," he texts what I say and puts my phone down. "So how are you and Caleb?"
"We're great, how are you with your insecurities," I smile.
"Fuck you." I roll my head back and I look up at the ceiling. The fan spins so slowly that I follow it with my eyes. "What are you doing?"
"Thinking about Caleb," I raise my head up straight and look directly at him.
"What does he have that I dont?" He yells. "What the fuck does he have that I don't have?" He walks over and bends down. "Is it the way he kisses you," he runs his thumb over my lips, "or the way he touches you?" He runs his hands slowly down my body. "Has he fucked you yet?" He grinds his teeth together in frustration. "Has he?" He yells just as he starts crying.
"We haven't done anything besides kiss."
"You're a liar!" I close my eyes as he screams in my face. "You're a fucking liar!"
"Have you fucking met me? Do you really think I'd fuck him so soon? Out of everyone, you should know how shy I am. I thought you'd trust me."
"How could I trust you after you've done nothing but be unfaithful."
"Do you want to know the truth?"
"Yes!"
