Thor and I stood, waiting as Loki entered codes to the door's security panel.
"Hey, so listen, we should talk." Thor said.
"I disagree. Open communication was never our family's forte. Wouldn't you agree, Luft?" Loki replied. I put my hands up, not wanting to be involved.
"You have no idea. I've had quite the revelation since we spoke last."
The doors opened, revealing a bunch of guards. We hefted up our stolen Sakaarian guns.
"Hello." Thor greeted.
"Hi!" Loki and I added our greeting in sync.
We blasted all the guards quickly, moving to another door.
"Odin brought us together, it's almost poetic that his death should split us apart. We might as well be strangers now. 'Two sons of the crown' set adrift." Loki said.
A guard tried to ambush Loki through the door, but Thor took him out.
"Thought you didn't want to talk about it?" Thor questioned.
"He never stops talking about it." I rolled my eyes. Thor's eyebrows raised and Loki looked at me in annoyance as we got into an elevator.
"Here's the thing. I'm probably better off staying here on Sakaar." Loki remarked.
"What? You can't be serious? What about Asgard? Thor, tell him." I exclaimed.
"That's exactly what I was thinking." Thor agreed.
"What?" Loki and I were shocked.
"...Did you just agree with me?" Loki asked.
"This place is perfect for you. It's savage, chaotic, lawless. Brother, you're going to do GREAT here."
"Loki may be those things, but he's more than that." I argued.
"Is he though?" Thor tilted his head.
"Do you truly think so little of me?" Loki piped up.
Thor paused, considering his brother. "Loki, I thought the world of you. I thought we were gonna fight side by side forever. But, at the end of the day, you're you, I'm me... I don't know, maybe there's still good in you. If there is, Luft is more likely to bring it out than I am. But let's be honest, our paths diverged a long time ago.
Loki looked wounded by Thor's willingness to discard him. But he spoke up quickly, "It's probably for the best that we never see one another again."
"That's what you always wanted." Thor patted him affectionately on the shoulder. I shook my head. I still couldn't believe that Loki would truly want to stay on Sakaar for the rest of his days instead of our home. "Hey, let's do 'Get Help'."
"What? Loki shook his head in confusion.
"'Get Help.'" Thor repeated.
"Oh yes, let's!" I agreed enthusiastically.
"No."
"Come on, you love it."
"I hate it."
"It's great. It works every time." Thor said. I nodded in agreement.
"It's humiliating."
"That's not true." I lied slightly.
"Do you have a better plan?" Thor asked.
"No."
"We're doing it." Thor concluded.
"We are not doing 'Get Help'." Loki argued.
"Loki. Please?"
The elevator door opened, revealing multi-tiered platforms with dozens of cool spaceships. Thor and I supported Loki's weight while he faked a fatal injury.
"Get help!" I cried.
"Please! My brother, he's dying." Thor begged.
A small group of Sakaarian guards turned towards us. One guard aimed his gun at us.
"Get help! Help him!" Thor picked Loki up and flung him at the guards, knocking them down like bowling pins. Loki stood up and we stepped to his side. "Classic." He smiled.
"One of the best." I laughed.
"I still hate it. It's humiliating." Loki grumbled.
"Not for us, it's not." Thor high fived me. "Which one's the ship she told us to get?"
"The Commodore." Loki pointed at a brand new, solidly built and sleek ship. We started walking towards it. "Though I feel it won't make much of a difference..."
"Oh, Loki." Thor sighed. I turned to see Loki standing by a panel that would easily active all the palace's alarms.
"I know I've betrayed you many times before, but this time it's truly nothing personal. The reward for your capture will set us up nicely." Loki triggered the alarm, motioning for me to join his side. I stayed by Thor's side. "Luft, come. This is for us. I don't want them thinking you're with him."
"But I am with him, Loki. I'm with Asgard." I murmured, shaking my head sadly. He frowned slightly.
"Never one for sentiment, were you?" Thor asked him.
"Easier to let it burn." Loki retorted.
Thor held up a fob device, and I noticed the Obedience Disk on him.
"I agree." Thor zapped Loki and held down the button. Loki hit the ground, writhing in pain. I gasped. Thor approached him. "Oh brother, you're becoming predictable. I trust you, you betray me. Round and round in circles we go. Sometimes I think Luft is the only one among us that's changed at all." He laughed.
"Thanks." I muttered uncertainly.
Thor stood thoughtfully, then kneeled down. "See, Loki, life is about, it's about growth. It's about change. But you seem to just wanna stay the same. I guess what I'm trying to say is that you'll always be the God of Mischief, but you could be more." He glanced at me as he said this. "I'll just put this over here for you." He placed the fob on top of the security panel, so close but so far from Loki's paralyzed reach. "Anyways, we got places to be, a home to save, so good luck."
