Hello everyone! It's been so long since I've updated this book but here is chapter 13! School has been so hectic but with February break coming up, you can expect a few updates! Please enjoy this chapter.
I whipped my head around and stared at Dylan. I was still in the clothes I was planning on wearing to the party as I flashed him a small smile.
"My uncle recently began to teach me. He says it doesn't hurt to be familiar with multiple defense mechanisms." I shrugged as I sat down on the bench near the bag.
Dylan sighed and walked towards me, but didn't sit down. I felt his two fingers on my chin as he tilted my face up to look at him. "Kaiden said something to you, didn't he?"
I laughed humorlessly. "What else could have happened? He was so different tonight, I barely recognized him. Instead of looking at my best friend, it was like I was staring at my past."
Dylan had no idea about my past and all the pain and abuse I was put through at such a young age. It's almost better that way. I don't want him to see me as a weak girl who can't defend herself.
"When does he leave again?" He looked down at me, quizzically.
My mouth opened slightly as I remembered. "A little less than two weeks. The thing is though, is that I can't just let him go back home when we're not on speaking terms."
Dylan's lips turned up into a small smirk as he stared at me. "Well, if you don't want to go home for the next two weeks, you can always stay at my place..."
My lips parted slightly as I stared up at him, trying to process the fact that Dylan had just asked me to temporarily live with him until Kaiden leaves.
"You would really let me live with you for the next two weeks? Won't your parents care?"
Dylan shook his head as a sign of no. "My parents aren't around much. Dad travels for work all the time and my mom goes with him. Right now they're on a yacht in the British Virgin Islands. They'll be gone for about two weeks, just enough time for Kaiden to leave I hope." He flashed me a small smile.
Damn. I still can't believe he's letting me do this. "Okay. I just need to get my stuff from my house but I want to wait until I know Kaiden isn't in the house. Do you think you can take me? He won't recognize your car." I said, feeling grateful for Dylan at this moment.
He nodded, "Yeah of course, let's just stop at my house first so you can drop off your car, then we won't have to come back to the gym."
"Sounds like a plan to me." I grinned as I grabbed my keys and bag off the floor. "I'm ready. I'll drive behind you."
As we walked out the doors and to the parking lot, I couldn't help but notice how nice his car was. A brand new Audi. I've never even seen his house before. I bet it's huge, considering where his parents are and his car.
I waved goodbye to Dylan and got in my car, waiting to follow him. As he pulled out, it didn't take us long to reach his track of houses, his being the one in the back. One of the largest ones.
My mouth opened as I let out a small gasp, taking in the scenery around the long driveway. Jesus.
I parked next to Dylan's car and got out. "Your house is gorgeous."
He chuckled, playing with his keys. "Yeah, I get that reaction a lot. Come inside."
We walked up to his front doors, stopping for a minute as he unlocked the door. Once we stepped inside I looked at a few of the pictures on the wall in the mud room.
There were 4 people in their family portrait. Dylan's parents, himself, and a boy, around the age of 5.
I apologize for the short chapter. I wanted to update quickly. Make sure to vote for another!
