Heyy! I'm at my Dads new place and it's really different than home but it's cozy, exactly his style. Theo "couldn't make it" but we all know that it's because he didn't want to come.
I really like my new room, it gives me a woodland vibe, basically, It's like a tree house.
Dad's not here yet and it's currently 8:30 pm so he's 1 hour late.
I don't what I'm going to say, we've not talked Since the divorce, I do miss him despite the fact he was never home in the first place."Zaraa I'm home!"
Coming Dad!
"Sorry I was late but I bought something"
What?
" one word ... SMELL"
Dad! IS THAT PIZZA!
"Maybe"
THAT IS DEFINITELY PIZZA!
"And it's your favorite!"
Thanks, Dad!
"Why don't you take the pizza and choose a movie while I freshen up, okay"
Okay. The pizza smells like heaven you guys, Mmm,
It's soo good,
"Zara, Theo's not coming, is he"
Sorry Dad
"Let me guess, "he couldn't make it"
How do you know?
"Theo made that excuse all the time when he was invited to birthday parties, enough about Theo, guess what I found."
Dad, is this the day of surprises or something, what did you find?
"Well, why don't you see for your self?"
It's a..... Book?
"It's the best book in the world"
Why?
"look inside"
Okay, woah this is pictures of me and Theo, I've never seen this.
"That's because I've never shown it to anyone"
Why?
"I don't think I was the best dad back then Zara and I repent every mistake I've ever made but that doesn't mean I forgot about you and Theo and I never want to forget so I made this book full of our memories and you're doing the same thing"
Does Mom know about this?
"Nope"
Dad, I didn't know you-
"Cared, yeah neither did your Mom and I don't blame her, I've not been there enough for her to see I care."
Oh, Dad,
"Let's forget about that, oh look at that picture"
But that's the picture from that school show I did ages ago but you weren't there so how did yo-
"I was there Zara, I wouldn't have missed it for the world."
But why didn't you tell me?
"I didn't know what to say, I'm not so good at talking, now that I've had time by myself, I realized I can't keep you guys away anymore.
Dad, do I know you?
"What?"
I'm serious Dad, do I know you?
"Zara, of course, you know me, I'm your Dad"
I can give you the correct answer, I don't know you.
"What do you mean"
I mean Dad, I know nothing about you, I don't think we've ever had a conversation this long, and I'm learning so many things about you, it's like meeting a stranger.
"............"
Sorry, Dad, I didn't mean to upset you.
"I'm not upset Zara, at least not at you anyway. My own daughter doesn't know me. I'm going to change that now."
Huh
"Ask me anything you want to know about me"
Umm okay, why were you so distant from us?
"It's not like I wanted to be distant from you or your Mom, when I was your age, I wanted to be a pilot but then your granddad handed over the business to me and if I'm being honest, I hated it, The business kept me away from all of you, as years went by, the amount of time I stayed in the office grew longer every day, I messed everything up, I tried to balance work and family but I couldn't, that's when alcohol... came in. I became violent Zara and every time I hurt your Mom, made me stay in the office longer I thought if I'm in the office then I can't hurt any of you. Oh, how wrong I was. The day I realized it went too far was Christmas Day when I came home drunk, I would do anything to take back that day....................
"Sorry, that must have been a lot?"
No, Dad, I understand now. Can I ask you something else?
"Go ahead"
Is there any hope for you and Mom?
"I love your Mom honestly I do but it's for the best Zara, you won't see it now but you will when your older"
Okay Dad, one more thing, it's not a question but a request,
"What is it"
Promise me first.
"Okay I promise "
Quit drinking.
"........ I ...... Promise"
Really?
"Yes really, anything else"
No Dad, I'm happy.
"Okay, why don't you go to sleep, it's getting late"
Before I go, you can live your dreams too, it's not too late to become a pilot, remember that.
"I will"I'm going to end the vlog now, hope you enjoyed it because I definitely did and I won't forget this day, Byyeee!
