In general, a ghost doesn't have a body, a ghoul does. A ghost may be the literal soul of a person who died, a recorded memory, or something else. It may be self conscious and aware or a mindless echo repeating over and over. But it is a bodyless remnant of a person who died.
A ghoul is the body of a person who died that keeps moving. In most cases, a ghoul has no soul or spirit, and is either completely mindless or very animal like. Ghouls are often, though not always, hostile to living people and may be under the control of another being (commonly a mage or vampire.)
