"Are you scared?" Brooklyn asked as he held my hand loosely. "Not that you need to be," he added hastily.

I was about to answer but I got disturbed by everyone sitting around us. I quickly moved my hand away so nobody got confused about anything.

Two nights ago we kissed for the first time and tonight I was going to meet his parents. In between that time we hadn't kissed again, nor had we spoken of the kiss to anyone. Instead we had carried on as normal. It hurt me slightly but I got on with it.

"Are you coming to the cinema with us all tonight?" Evie asked me as she leant across the table. "We are all going to see 22 Jump Street."

"I've seen it already," I said quickly without thinking about. "I've got things to do anyway."

"Who did you see it with?" she asked, looking slightly hurt. "What are you doing tonight?"

"I saw it with my brothers a few nights back," I lied. "I am going to see my Dad for a bit. Tyler and I are getting picked up tonight. I only found out about it this morning, sorry Evs. We will do something when I am back, yeah?" The last bit wasn't a lie, I was going to my Dad's for a while.

"I suppose," she answered looking miserable for a few seconds before turning and talking to her latest boyfriend, Tom.

--

"Bring me back lots of presents," Evie said to me as she hugged me. "Skype me everyday." She reminded me. "Try not to kill your stepmum."

"I will try," I said with a laugh. "I will bring you sweets and stuff back."

I said goodbye to all of my other friends before I met up with Brooklyn and Tyler who were waiting for me.

"Have you said godbye to your friends?" I asked Tyler as we walked away from the school.

"Yes," he said slowly as he walked ahead of us. I passed him some money. "Go and buy some supplies for the airport." I told him. "I will wait by here for you. I want things as well."

He cheered up as he went into the nearest shop.

"Why do you need to go to an airport?" Brooklyn asked with a confused look on his face. "I thought you were going to see your Dad?"

"I am," I said with a shrug. "He lives far away, that's all. We didn't get a chance to see him during the summer because he was busy so we're going now."

Before anything else could be said, Tyler came out of the shop carrying a very full bag full of sweets and magazines.

We walked home together, with Brooklyn's arm over my shoulder and Tyler walking slightly in front of us looking slightly ill.

"Is he alright?" Brooklyn whispered to me as we approached my house. "He looks like he is going to be sick any minute."

"He hates flying," I said back. "He is like this before we go anywhere. He will get better though, once we are on the plane."

I unlocked the front door for Tyler and turned to Brooklyn. "Are you still coming tonight?" he asked me slowly.

"Of course I am," I answered. "Our flight is at like two in the morning so it will be fine. I am going to finish packing now and then I will get ready. Are you coming in or going straight home?"

"I have to go and help Dad out with food," Brooklyn said. "He has started cooking more and is cooking a new recipe tonight."

"I am sure it will be very nice," I said with a smile. "I will see you later."

"I will come and pick you up at about five," Brooklyn said. "You better be ready." He said with a slight laugh as he looked at the ground. "Oh, Mum is saying to not dress up too much."

We said our goodbyes and I got on with all of the things I had to do. It took me a while, but finally I had packed. Who knew how difficult packing was?

I was about to put on my outfit for the night when Mum came in my bedroom carrying an envelope. "I don't want you to go." She sat on my bed slowly and examined my bags in the corner. She sighed slowly. "But, you have to see your father. I can't stop you from going." She turned the envelope around in her hands. "I am sorry I can't take you out there but I have a massive case with work. I promise I will bring you home though."

"I know," I said as I plastered a smile on my face. "It's only a month right? It will fly by." I didn't believe my own words. They were lies.

"I got you and Tyler something anyway," she said as she handed me the envelope. "Open it on the morning of your first day there."

I placed it in my suitcase slowly and hugged my mother. Even though she was in work most of the time and we always argued, I would miss her more than anything. We had never spent longer than two weeks apart in my whole life.

"Brooklyn is here," Tyler shouted up the stairs a few minutes later.

I grabbed my bag and quickly put my shoes on before walking downstairs. An overwhelming sense of shyness came over me as I looked up at Brooklyn but I pushed it away and walked towards him.

"You are being picked up at half nine," Mum said as she walked into the hall. "Your father is sending a nanny to come and pick you up along with your stepmother as he is too busy with his work. Make sure you are home in time."

I rolled my eyes at her comment. It was typical of my father to get someone else to do his jobs. I nodded slowly and kissed her on the cheek before I walked out of the house with Brooklyn.

"You look beautiful," he said as he took my hand. We walked towards our mode of transport for the evening - the tube. How romantic.

"Thanks," I said shyly. "You scrub up well yourself." I said with a laugh as we stepped onto the crowded carriage. I looped an arm around a handle by the door to stop myself falling into anyone.

"So, you have a nanny do you?" Brooklyn teased. "Never thought you were the type of person to have one."

"He has just sent one so I don't kill my stepmother on the flight," I said with a sweet smile on my face. "I don't have one when I am with him usually, he makes me look after myself."

We chatted about random things for the rest of the way to his house. I was slightly nervous but not overly so which meant that overall it was good.

"Where is it you're actually going?" Brooklyn asked me as he went to open his front door.

"New York," I answered slowly. "For a month."
