"What's wrong?" I asked her instantly. I gestured for Tyler to wait for me.
"Why were you talking to Tom in Biology?" she asked me.
"It's nothing to do with you," I said with a laugh. "Why are you so angry about it?"
"How would you like it if you broke up with Brooklyn and I carried on talking to him?"
"I wouldn't care at all," I said honestly. "I asked him if one of answers was right and he borrowed a pen off me. Is that enough information for you?"
"Show me you are telling the truth," she said with a shrug.
"Tom, can I have that pen back?" I asked him as he walked towards us with some mates. "I need it."
"Uh, yeah," he said as he reached into his blazer pocket. He pulled a pen out and handed it to me. "Thanks for lending it to me."
"Don't mention it I said," to him as he walked away. He winked back at me when Evie wasn't looking and I knew I could trust him. "Do you believe me now? You're ridicolous, having a go at me about talking to someone. You were only with him for a few weeks anyway."
"What is wrong with you today?" Evie asked as she shook her head. "It's like you're someone else."
"I've got things on my mind." I turned around to walk towards Tyler but she grabbed my arm. "Family issues that's all. I will let you know when I need to."
"Is everything alright?" Tyler asked once we were far enough away.
"Yeah," I said with a smile. "Make sure you're quieter next time you tell someone though."
"Sorry."
Once we had reached the school gates everyone had left apart from Brooklyn who was tapping away at his phone. "Where have you been?" He walked over to us and grabbed my hand. As soon as he did I thought about leaving. I got an uneasy feeling in stomach.
"Don't ask," I said as I shook my head. "Girl drama. Listen, can we do that film tomorrow night instead? I've got some stuff I need to sort out with my Dad and everything."
"Yeah that's fine," he said as he squeezed my hand. Tyler walked ahead of us a bit and Brooklyn carried on speaking. "Is everything alright? You seemed out of it today."
"I'm just really tired," I said with a shrug. "I will be fine after a good sleep."
I heard someone beep their horn as we walked by a car and James stuck his head out of the window. "Do you want a lift or not?"
"I will speak to you later," I said to Brooklyn as I hugged him tightly.
"Haven't you told him?" James asked me as I climbed into the passenger seat.
"I don't know how to," I said as a tear ran down my face. I wiped it away quickly and put my head on the window. "I want as much time with him before I leave as possible but it's difficult. We've got months left and I know I am being stupid but I'm scared he will end it if I tell him about it." More tears ran down my face. "I don't know how to tell him."
"You will find a way," he said. "I don't think you should be in school until you do though, your a mess. You can't be like this everyday. Have the day off tomorrow, Mum isn't here anyway."
I didn't protest, I just nodded and tried to forget everything. Would it be easier to detatch myself now? Should I not tell him until I am about to leave? Should I tell him now and deal with his reaction? Would it be easier that way.

"Brooklyn is here to see you," James said as he came into my room. "Shall I send him up?"
"Yeah," I said with a smile. "I've come up with a plan."
"I need to talk to you about something," Brooklyn said with a smile as he came and sat down on my bed. "It's really important."
"I need to tell you something as well," I said not so enthusiasticly. "You go first."
"I can stay in London for the next two years to do my exams," he said with an excited look on his face. "I mean, I will have to go to America for a month here or there but for the most part I will be in London. It means we won't have to do any of that long distance stuff. It will all work out fine."
"That's great news," I said with a fake smile as I tried to hide my tears. I hugged him tightly never wanting to let go. "I'm so happy."
James came into my room. "She has been awake all day and all night. I think it is best if she sleeps now. I know you only just arrived but she is exhausted."
"Get well soon babe," Brooklyn said as he kissed me on the forehead slowly. "I will text you later."
"Bye," I managed to choke out. Thankfully he had left the room when the tears started running. James came and sat next to me as Tyler showed him out. I got wrapped up in James' arms as I sobbed my heart out.
"You will work something out," he whispered over and over again but I didn't believe him. This was it, my heart was breaking. "Shall I call Evie?"
"Please," I whispered to him. "I need to tell her. She deserves to know."
Twenty minutes later and she was here, taking over James' role. As soon as I had heard him walk down the stairs I began to talk.
"I'm leaving," I whispered slowly. "I'm moving to America."
"With your Dad?"
"My Mum has got a promotion out there," I said. "I've got to go. It's only for a few months but I leave after our exams are over. I am going to miss the whole summer."
"What else?"
"If they like her out there they will keep her on," I explained. "I thought it would be fine." The tears started running down my face again. "I thought Brooklyn would be the one leaving, not me. He's staying in London for the next two years and I am leaving. He looked so happy when he told me, I couldn't do it to him. He thinks this is going to fix our problems but they are just going to get worse. How do I tell him Evie?"
"You just need to sit him down and tell him everything," she said. "You will get through this and if you don't then whatever. He's your first love so he's going to be your first heartbreak. If you get through this then you will be a really strong couple so that's a plus."
"We will still be friends won't we?" I asked her quietly. She had more friends than I did, I didn't want her to find anyone new to be best friends with.
"Of course," she said with a smile. "It will take more than an ocean and a few months to keep us apart. You're my best friend Ella, I love you to bits and nothing is going to stop that."
"I don't want to leave," I said quietly. I hugged her tightly. "Thank you for helping me."
