Shock, confusion, fear, disbelief, all of these feelings flooded me at once, but that's normal when a man falls from the freaking sky right in front of you.
"Gabriel you bloody bastard, that hurt" Martin, said as he stood up and rubbed his backside before dusting his pants, he still hasn't noticed the girl standing only a few feet away from him with her mouth almost hitting the ground.
"I will show you when I ret-" He stopped once he looked up and noticed me. He blinked, I blinked, and a moment of pure shock passed between the both of us as we stared at each other before he spoke up "Hey," he chuckled nervously and rubbed the back of his neck then so cheerfully said: "What a beautiful day to sky...dive?"
"Skydive?" I inquired in a disbelieving tone.
"Why are you acting like you just saw a man fall from the sky? I like to skydive every once in a while, you know." He grinned
"You actually need a parachute for that, and in specific places and those places don't include a school's rooftop." I don't even know how I managed to speak; I think it's my everlasting love of calling people out on their bullshit that gave me the courage, other than that I was still trying to process the situation.
"Uh, I like to take risks. What are you doing here anyway shouldn't you be at home? You know what, never mind, I don't need to know why. I will just go on my way and you do what you got to do, jump from here or anything. Actually no, wait, don't do that it could kill you. Just don't jump, and don't tell anyone you saw me, bye" I couldn't focus on his quick rambling because something else caught my attention.
His eyes, they weren't the same unique shade of green they were before. They were blue, an even more unique kind of blue, it was as beautiful as the sky, and as striking as lightning, eyes that could stare right into your soul. I have never seen eyes so beautiful before.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" his expression was mirroring mine, eyes slightly terrified. He blinked and his eyes turned green again. Shocked, I screamed and stumbled back, totally forgetting that I was standing on the edge of the roof. Well, here is my chance to figure out what happens when I fall from here.
I shut my eyes tightly waiting for the painful impact. But in a flash, and before I could fall, someone grabbed me by the waist and hauled me up again.
"Your eyes-" I whispered but he interrupted me.
"Phew, that was close." He sounded out of breath, "Hope, isn't it? You should act upon your name and have some Hope. Things are going to get better someday, jumping off roofs does not fix things. And remember, you were here attempting to jump off the roof and I saved your life, you will return home, continue your day as if nothing happened and you will forget everything that you saw." He said slowly while looking deeply into my eyes then turned around and walked away before giving me a chance to understand anything.
What the hell was all that about? Is he stupid? I clearly wasn't jumping off roofs right now, I was almost startled to death. And does he know that his eyes change? Is he delusional or something?
I have to follow him!
Even though common sense tells me to run back home, lock myself in my room and never be in the same place as this guy ever again.
I sneaked quietly behind him, keeping myself hidden until he stopped in front of Cressida's locker. A rich girl in our school, I remembered that he was recently seen with her a lot and there was some gossip that they are dating. Thinking that she probably forgot something and he was bringing it for her, I was about to retreat and start investigating about what I saw tomorrow because right now I was so tired. I almost died after all.
