The next few days passed normally, nothing out of the ordinary happened. It was like any other normal school week.
Basically, Martin dumped Cressida the day after I followed him to the gym, I was relieved when I saw her wearing the necklace though. Word spread that Martin is a huge playboy as he was seen flirting with many girls, but of course, that didn't stop the girls from throwing themselves at him.
Aside from that, he was behaving like any normal teenager. Although I am pretty sure he has something to do with the random frog that jumped over Mrs. O'Connell's head in chemistry class.
As for me, I couldn't stop thinking about what happened that day. I wished that I could tell Chloe, who was so fed up with him especially after he attempted to flirt with her, he ended up getting a punch to the face and a permanent scar to his ego, it was so satisfying. Whenever I tried to tell her though, I remember what happened after Gabriel had left.
"So Pinky," Martin turned to me, "both of us clearly do not want to do this, and I am certain that you noticed I am not as kind as Gabriel, so let us strike a deal. You keep your mouth shut, we will become best friends. You tell anyone about what you saw, I will make sure your death looks like an accident"
Unable to form words, I gulped and nodded my head. Martin just grinned and pinched my cheeks saying something about me being a good girl before walking away.
So telling Chloe wasn't a wise decision. It's not that I am scared, I mean obviously I am anyone would be, I just don't want to drag her into this. Martin is really one crazy dude. Plus you can handle death threats pretty well on your own when you actually want death.
Martin though, kept his promise and now whenever he passes by me he drops a high-five, we have been actually interacting more since then, whether it's a friendly banter or just a quick hello. I am discreetly trying to get to the bottom of this and slowly becoming friends might actually help me.
"Earth to, Hope." Chloe snapped her fingers in front of my face.
"Oh, hey Chloe didn't see you there."
"I have been walking with you for the past five minutes.'' She gave me a weird look.
"Right, sorry I was thinking about something."
"Can you stop with all the Martin theories? The guy is normal. I swear you're becoming just as obsessed with him as everyone else." Chloe complained, just like my thoughts, Martin was all I could speak about as well. I was trying to get her at least curious about him, but it was all in vain.
"I am not obsessed with him, a guy who suddenly shows up in town, who looks older than a teenager and who knows nothing about modern stuff then magically learns it overnight needs to be looked into, alright? Why isn't that confusing you, we always make conspiracy theories about people. Just last week we decided that Mr. Wyatt is a psycho serial killer and Mrs. O'Connell has a kink dungeon, why not make theories about Martin?" I know I didn't want to drag her into this, but a part of me didn't want to be in it alone as well.
Chloe sighed. "Because there is simply nothing interesting about him, people move to new towns all the time and it's normal for people to look older than their age. And you might be surprised but not everyone is as up to date with social media and modern stuff as we are. So please, let it go. He is someone who enjoys attention, that's all. What theories could you come up with about him?"
"I don't know, like what if he is actually a wizard who uses some sort of magic and he has a friend who appears out of thin air? Come on he is so weird-"
"Hey, Pinky, your hair looks really nice today." Martin approached with a sweet smile, he also had a say-another-world-and-I-will-kill-you look. "Tell me, do you have younger siblings? Because it would be a real shame if they accidentally shaved it off while you are asleep."
