Friendship or love?

Tawnya sat on the couch with a paper brown bag over her mouth. She slowly exhaled and inhaled, causing the bag to inflate as well as deflate. She did this for about 10 minutes until she calmed down.

"Okay, this is really messed up." Tawnya shook her head in disbelief. "Are you sure I'm not just dreaming all of this?"

"For the last time Tawnya, No you're not dreaming! You're fully awake!" You shouted through your gritted teeth. You were starting to lose your patience as you rubbed your sore temples from having to constantly explain the situation to her.

"Oh right..." she sighed disappointedly. "....this is real. I guess truth is stranger than fiction huh?"

You lowered your head in shame, you could hear it in her voice, the disappointment. It's only a matter of time before she makes you decide what's more important, your friendship with Tawnya or your love for Tails?

Several minutes went by without any talking, the tension was so thick you could cut a knife right through it. Tails felt like he was making Tawnya uncomfortable by being in the room, so he decided to make an excuse to leave. "Umm...I'll go out and get some more food. I'll be back soon." And with that he left.

The silence was killing you, so you decide to speak. "Look, I know you're probably disappointed, but I love Tails. I'm sorry he's not the kind of guy you expected but he makes me really happy."

"Plenty of fish in the sea and you bring home a fox. I always knew you were different, just didn't think you'd go that far. Heck, if things don't work out you can have my dog." Tawnya said coldly.

Her words felt like a knife through the heart. If words were ammunition you'd be long dead, not that it mattered, because right now you felt like dying. 'She broke off our friendship in an alternate reality, so of course she'd do it again.' The voice in your head was right. If it happened already once, why would this be any different?

"Are you gonna make me choose..?" You asked sadly.

"No."

You looked up at her disgusted face. "No?" You were confused.

"Because I'm leaving." Tawnya got up from the couch and gave you an icy glare. "Have a nice life."

Something inside of you snapped, your sadness was now replaced with anger. You stood up to your feet and got into Tawnya's face. "You know something Tawnya? I just finally realized something...you're a total b****!"

Tawnya was baffled by your sudden boldness, but quickly shook it off as she fired back a nasty remark. "Oh how ironic. You slept with the fox! Guess that makes you twice the b**** I'll ever be!"

"You know what? Just go! You were never a friend to me, I've always been there for you when you needed me and now when I ask for your support you wanna walk out? Go to hell!"

"Don't ever call me, text me, talk to me, look at me or even think about me. We're not friends anymore!" Tawnya hissed as she stomped towards the door. She angrily kicked one of Tails' pot plants on the floor, breaking into pieces. After she slammed the door she kept cussing under her breath as she left.

By the time she was gone Tails had returned with bags of groceries in his hands. "Hi (Y/n), how'd it go? Huh? What happened?"

"Hurricane Tawnya is what happened." You replied sarcastically while cleaning up the broken pot plant. Tails quickly rushed over and insisted that he clean up the mess.

You plopped onto the couch with your arms folded, silently blowing steam out of your nose. After Tails finished cleaning he sat next to you and wrapped his arm around your shoulder comfortingly. "I'm sorry things didn't go as planned. Maybe you'd still be friends if I hadn't pressured you into telling her." He said sadly.

You leaned your head over his and sighed. "Don't be sorry. I finally realized what a terrible friend Tawnya is. I'm just sorry it took me this long to figure it out.

"In that case how bout I make you dinner to forget about all of this?"

"Dinner sounds perfect."
