"You don't remember anything other than that? Nothing else at all?" The police officer pressed, causing Taehyung to get defensive.
"Sir, he said he doesn't, so I think we should just leave it at that." Tae responded in a respectful tone, yet still passive aggressively. His grip tightened ever so slightly on his boyfriend.
The officer gave in and decided to leave it at that. He got up to leave, offering a goodbye as he did so.
The few hours after Jungkook had woken up went by fairly quickly due to all of the tests the doctors had been taking, as well as all of the questions that had been asked by everyone.
At last, there was an answer to the question everyone had been asking. What happened to Jungkook?
He had called an Uber before leaving the grocery store that night. Upon arrival, he got inside the car with his shopping bags as he normally would have.
"Hello," Jungkook offered kindly, situating himself in the back seat.
There was a long pause before the driver gave a rather odd-sounding "How are you?" in response.
Jungkook wasn't focused on the man, so naturally, he didn't notice his weird behavior or the baffled look on his face. He was only worried about getting home and changing into his pajamas for the night.
"Oh, I'm alright, thank you."
The car lurched forward slowly, heading off in the opposite direction of the apartment.
The boy in the backseat was clueless as to what was happening. He had already opened his phone and began scrolling through his Twitter feed.
Fifteen minutes passed before Jungkook finally looked up from his phone. Looking out the window, he noticed that they were headed towards the outskirts of Seoul.
"Excuse me?"
"Hmm?"
"I think we're going the wrong way..."
"Huh?"
"Um, my house is the other way," he pointed his thumb behind him as he met the driver's gaze in the mirror.
He pulled a convincing thoughtful look. "31B South Avenue, right?"
"Yeah, that's it."
"That's where we're headed. Maybe you're just used to taking another route there?"
"No, I'm sure this isn't the way to my house."
"It's part of the route, man. It takes you around all the traffic." He shrugged, looking back at Jungkook.
Slightly eased by this, he stopped arguing with the driver and allowed him to continue on. This time, he sat his phone down on the seat beside him. It would be better to remain alert; just in case this guy was up to no good.
When ten minutes had passed and they were completely out of Seoul, he knew something didn't add up.
"I thought you said this got us around traffic?"
"It does,"
"Actually, it looks like it got us out of Seoul altogether."
And at that, the driver's facade was dropped. "Great observation!" He exclaimed sardonically. He reached for his phone and quickly pressed one of the contacts.
"Wha—"
"Shut up,"
A pause.
"Hey.—Yeah, it's him. I got him.—Yes, I'm sure, damn it!—I'll be there soon."
Jungkook's heart began to beat out of his chest—he dreaded what was possibly to come. Before either of them could blink, the man had reached back and snatched his phone from the seat.
"What the fuck? Give that back!"
No response.
"Wh-Who are you? Where the hell are you taking me?"
A laugh escaped from the man's lips and he sighed. "You'll find out soon, Jeongguk. Be patient."
Confusion was added to the panic that overtook him. Who was this man? More importantly, why was this man out to get him?
They arrived to their apparent destination shortly after, Jungkook screaming at him and protesting the whole way. The doors wouldn't open, nor would the windows roll down, so there was nothing else left for him to do.
The last thing he remembered was being dragged out of the car over to three dark figures in the distance.
After that, nothing. Until, of course, he was met with the beeping.
