Jimin's eyes opened and he groaned as he felt the arm of a chair digging into his back.
It had almost been a week since they found Jungkook. After having seen enough of Taehyung's tired face, he and Yoongi sent him home, offering to stay with Jungkook for him.
He had been reluctant at first, but that hadn't lasted very long. His need for sleep had gotten to be too much at that point.
Jimin sat up and rubbed his aching back. He had slept flung over the side of the chair, head resting on Yoongi's shoulder. It was a very uncomfortable position, but how else was there to sleep in a hard, plastic chair?
Standing up, he took note of Jungkook, who was still lying in the same position he had been for the past week.
Glancing over at Yoongi, he saw that the boy's arms were crossed while his legs were sprawled out wide, and his mouth was hanging open slightly; letting out soft snores.
Jimin smiled softly at the cute sleeping position before checking his phone.
7:06 am
It would be a few hours before Jungkook's family and friends arrived, so he left the room to get some coffee. The hallways were relatively empty and thankfully, the lounge wasn't very far away from the room.
He returned shortly to find Yoongi half awake, blinking confusedly with his legs pulled up and crossed in the chair.
"Want some coffee?" Jimin offered, holding out the cup he had originally made for himself. It looked as though Yoongi needed it more than he did.
The older mumbled a sleepy "Thanks," and gratefully took the cup from him.
Jimin walked to the side of Jungkook's bed and peered down at the peaceful boy. The doctors had been giving them very vague updates, and it was unclear as to whether or not he was making progress.
He still had a hard time wrapping his head around the fact that his best friend was lying in that hospital bed.
It had been hard enough going home the past few nights without his roommate there.
Usually Jungkook would've been on the couch, cackling at some show he had found. Other times he would've been bopping around the kitchen baking something from a recipe he had found; sometimes with Taehyung. They both brought such a happy energy to the place.
Instead, Jimin was met with a silent apartment.
He was broken out of his thoughts by Yoongi, who had apparently finally woken up enough to come to his senses.
"What do you think's going to happen?"
It seemed like he had been lost in thought, too.
"I don't know anymore,"
There was a pause.
"Can he hear us?"
"The doctor didn't say."
After a moment, Yoongi got up and walked over to where Jimin stood. His arm found its way across the younger's shoulders in an attempt to comfort him.
"I'm so sorry, Jiminie,"
Jimin turned his head toward him, meeting his eyes.
Yoongi continued, "I don't know him that well but it still..." he looked for a better way to word what he was trying to say, "it still hurts me to see him like this. I know he's a really close friend of yours, so I can only imagine what this is doing to you. I'm sorry you have to go through this, I'm sorry this whole thing happened, I'm sorry you're in pain—I just don't believe this actually happened—"
"Hyung," Jimin's eyes closed as his forehead connected with Yoongi's. "Don't apologize for something that's completely out of your control. I know, it doesn't feel real to me either. But everything's going to turn out alright one way or another."
Yoongi, who had also closed his eyes until Jimin finished with what he was saying, studied his peaceful yet pained face. Even in this situation, this early in the morning, he was still beautiful.
He wanted nothing more than to take away his hurting, but he knew they would just have to brave through it together. He admired Jimin's positive outlook and, after listening to what he had to say in response, it led him to think more positively as well.
Jimin's eyes opened shortly after and they gazed into each other's eyes for a short moment, before Yoongi turned him around fully and wrapped his arms around the younger.
That was exactly what Jimin needed. They stayed like that for who-knows-how-long, comforted only by each others' embrace.
It wasn't long after their legs began to get stiff that a barely audible, croaked-out phrase captured their attention.
"Aren't you two tired of hugging yet?"
