"What?" One of the newsies yelled.
The Brooklyn newsies looked at the headline. "Price changed 10 cents per ten papers." Is what the headline read.
"Well what are we gonna do?" Y/N asked.
"This is ridiculous. Let's take a walk over ta da World." Spot said.
"I'll save you da time. Da price is the same over there." One of the newsies said.
"Same at da Sun, it's the same price everywhere." Another newsie piped up.
"Well what are we gonna do?" Y/N asked again.
"We'll jus havta work with da new price." Spot answered.
"It's dat really fair though?" Someone asked.
"It's not, but ya can't go on forever without making money, can ya?" Spot replied.
The newsies all groaned as they lined up to get there papers. "Spot are ya sure dis is da right thing ta do?" Y/N asked.
"I don't know." Spot mumbled.
It was weird for anyone to see Spot unsure of himself, because Spot was always sure of himself.
That day everyone in Brooklyn went around and sold papers like they did everyday, but then the evening came and the newsies were met with a surprise. Two newsies from Manhattan.
"What do ya want?" Spot asked unhappy.
Spot wasn't a fan of newsies that weren't from Brooklyn being on his turf. "We like to propose a idea to you." The tall lengthy said.
"What idea?"
"Ta go on strike! Instead of paying extra we go on strike until they put da price back where it belongs." The other newsie said.
"Ya crazy. The cops will beat us up if we do dat." Spot said.
"But if we-"
"Get 'em off my turf boys I don't want ta hear anything more from them." Spot ordered as a couple newsies chased the two away.
"Ya know going on strike isn't a bad idea." Y/N mentioned.
"Yeah, but as I said da cops will bust us if we do." Spot shot back.
"Spot dis is Brooklyn. If we go on strike all of Brooklyn will go on strike and what are da cops gonna do bout dat." Y/N brought up.
"Look I jus think it's a bad idea, that's all." Spot said.
"Whatever."
Y/N walked into the centre.
Spot stood alone, arms crossed. The real reason he didn't want to go on strike really was because the cops might beat them up and Spot was hellbent on keeping Y/N safe. It would kill him inside to see Y/N hurt. Sure maybe he was a little protective, but it was all with the best intentions.
"Where's Y/N?" One of the newsies asked.
"Inside." Spot answered.
"Ya know I'll never understand why your so determined ta keep her safe."
"Cause I care bout her." Spot answered.
"Ya sure that's da only reason?" The newsboy asked.
"Shut up Trev." Spot said brushing aside what he'd said.
Trever was one of Spot's only friends aside from Y/N.
Trever walked inside to see Y/N sulking in the corner. "Hey Y/N." Trever said.
"Hey Trever." Y/N waved.
"What's wrong?" Trever asked pulling a chair up and sitting down.
"Spot." Y/N answered.
"Isn't dat always da answer?" Trever asked smiling.
Y/N laughed. "Look I jus think he's being to protective."
"I agree, but Spot is stubborn. You'll havta convince him otherwise." Trever agreed.
"Yeah I know." Y/N sighed.
"I'm sure you'll find a way ta get him on ya side." Trever said.
"Yeah." Y/N mumbled.
A/N thanks for reading.
