Struggling to work for two part time jobs, and balancing going to school was hard. So somedays I would have to skip school. Seeing as I wasn't in the mood to face my friends, I skipped the next 3 days for work.
Alexa was worried sick and left many voicemails. I knew she would try to find my house, and I couldn't let that happen so I forced myself to go on Monday.
I didn't want Alexa to know, I had to work two jobs because, I would always tell her my dad was always out on business trips and leave money, and I wouldn't need two jobs to support myself. She would try to make things better like she always did, but there was simply no loophole to this, and I didn't want her to get involved. There's just somethings you keep from friends.
"Yah I just got a really bad cold from walking to my house," I lied. "You should've Called me, you know I would have picked you up."
"Drop it Alexa," I stated firmly. She huffed. "You know I just do this because I care about you, right?"
My eyes softened. "Alexa..." I started. "Its not your job to take care of me, Im fine. I promise," I give her a reassuring smile.
She raises her eyebrows but nonetheless drops the subject.
"So I heard you and Derek..." I turned red in embarrassment. "So was it good?" She waggled her eyebrows. "Um w-what?" I stuttered. "You know, God you're so vanilla."
"U-uh, mhmm yah sure-e." Sh laughed at my expense. "You're so cute." She made me turn even redder. "Hey girls, what I miss?" Conner approached planting a kiss on her forehead with hands wrapped around her waist.
"Nothing, just girl talk." She winked toward me. That was her definition of period cycles.
"Gah, spare me the details." We laughed at the typical boy reaction. Our usual table was me, Derek, Alexa, and Conner. Eventually Derek came.
He took a seat next to me. "Hey guys." His hand trailed to my thigh up my skirt. "Not right now," I whispered taking his hand off me. "Why'd you leave so early the other night?" He whispered back. Alexa noticing this from the corner of her eye while conversing with Conner.
"My dad was expecting me last night." A lie straight through my teeth. We talked the rest of the lunch period.
They all shared stuff that happened throughout the day. I felt so much more distant. I was keeping everything away from them, but can you blame me? When it comes to me, there's just somethings you keep from the ones you cared about. I was dazing off again.
"Hey Sky, you good?" Alexa whispered beside me. "Yah fine, just daydreaming again, that's all."
