"Where are you taking me?" I asked Alexa as she drove me around. This caused her to smile. "We are going to the mall."

"Why?" I was confused, she practically kidnapped me after 4th period. Ive never skipped. "A makeover." This made me even more confused. She was beautiful more than I can ever be. "But you're perfect the way you-"

"For you silly." She cut me off.

I chocked at her reply. "What, no, you don't have to."

"I want to. Don't you wanna try something new? You're so pretty, and I thought it would be fun to play with your looks, and see how it turns out." I instantly blushed when she called me pretty even though I knew it wasn't true.

I never tried to make myself look representable. As much as I try, looks are just looks. "We are going to the salon first. This is going to be so much fun." She squealed. "Then I want to buy some new clothes."

"You don't have to spend money on me."

"I want to. You've been wearing the same two outfits all year, its time to treat yourself." I gulped as we arrived at our destination. I walked in the salon. There was pictures of different hairstyles everywhere.

Alexa commanded me to sit in the chair. "Hello ladies, what are you thinking about getting." This middle aged lady asked us.

"Can you surprise us? Choose what you think would suit her," Alexa asked. "I'll work magics."

I stared at my reflection in the mirror, unrecognizing the person in front of me. I now had layered hair, and my light brown hair into a dark brown and ginger ombre. "What do you think?" The lady asked us.

Alexa clapped her hands. "Thank you I love it." I said as Alexa left her an extra tip. As we walked out Alexa took a picture of my hair with her phone in a flash.

"Alright bestie, time for our next stop."

She dragged me into several stores, and threw clothes at me to try on. I nervously looked at the mirror. I tried on a shoulder cut out blouse, with skinny jeans, and golden flats. I never wore something this girly and nice.

"Oooh! you look gorgeous," Alexa exclaimed holding all the shopping bags from different places.

"I think we bought too much."

"Its no biggie. I'm going to do your nails and makeup at my house." She replied. "M-makeup?" I never used makeup unless it was too cover up a bruise. "Yes! you wold look amazing with a blush, and red lips."

Once I changed out of the clothes she drove off to her house. " Hey Sky," Hayley approached me. "WOW! I lobe the new hair style. let me guess, Alexa took you for a makeover." I chuckled softly.

"Yup you got me." Alexa said grabbing her makeup bag.

Finally after tickling my face with her brushes, she finished. "Open you're eyes now." Her makeup worked wonders, seeing as my eyeballs were completely covered, and my small curly lashes, were now thick and long.

She was right about the blush suiting me. "You don't know how much this means to me Lexi."

I was truly grateful for having an amazing best friend like her, who cared this much about me. "You're going to impress everyone tomorrow." I knew I would be really shy in school the next day.

"I have to head home now, but thanks for spending so much money on me, you didn't have too." I grabbed all my shopping bags and stuffed in my backpack.

"You're worth the sky and beyond and some day someone will appreciate you." Her words gave me mixed emotions even though I knew she was registering my soulmate was somewhere out there.

She tucked a loose curl behind my ear with this smile plastered over her beautiful face. "Bye Sky, see you tomorrow." I cleared my throat and walked home in silence not ready to face my father after this lovely day.

I opened the door quietly not wanting to draw attention to my father. "Skylar is that you?!" I squeezed my eyes shut as I heard his drunk voice approach me.

"Yes father?" I swallowed the lump in my throat closing the door behind me, and walking into the kitchen. There was no use in trying to play hide and seek with him. It would only make him angrier.

"What the hell did you do with your hair?!" The anger in his tone was evident.

My hair was a big factors of my mom that we shared. He used to love that about her. "Just tried something new." He laughed bitterly at my response. "You think a new look will get people to? You're just a worthless piece of shit.

None of this is new to me. Im used to the usual insults on how I look. "Im not trying to impress anyone but mom. So she can see how much Ive grown." I stood my ground.

"Thats the only good thing about her death. She wont have to look at your failure anymore." My whole body felt week as tears streamed down my cheeks. It was pointless trying to prove myself to him, or myself for that matter.

"Its a shame you're mother was a true beauty. Its sad to see none of that was genetic." He forced me by the shoulder to listen to his cold words. " I tried to block the sound of his voice, but he just had to make my life miserable.

"No, don't turn away. I want you to hear all of this" He whispered down my ear.

He was truly the cruelest person Ive ever met. "You're not my father. I dont know who I'm staring at," I made the mistake of saying. "Whatever." He shoved me forcefully to the ground, and walked out the back door to smoke another blunt.

This is starting to get old.....
