Never escape

I decided this night would be the night where I could forget about everything. Where Alexa wouldn't be at the top of my mind. Where my father wouldn't come across once. Where my toxic relationship and school didn't matter.

I thought chugging drinks would make me forget, but it just made everything worse.

I stumbled through the loud crowd, making my way to the center where everyone was grinding against each other.

"Hey stranger."

"Derek?! What are you doing here?!"

I came face to face with my so called "boyfriend." His hands were sliding all over me.

I smacked his grimy hands off me. "Its a party, which is why I want to know why you're here." He answered. I gulped looking around for Alexa, who I left her when she wasn't looking.

"Alexa invited me." I cleared my throat awkwardly looking away. "Okay bye now."

I tried to push past him back to the kitchen, but he snatched my hand. "Wait! Care to dance?"

"Not really- I should get back to Lexi. She'll be looking for me..." He let out a light chuckle, not letting me go persistently.

"Get off me!!!" I yelled trying to push his strong grip off me.

"Now listen to me you stupid slut do not embarrass me in front of all these people!" I could smell the alcohol in his mouth as his hands were wrapped around my neck. I fought my urge of tears.

Its like I was cursed to never escape pain and suffrage by others.

"What the fuck do you think you're doing asshole?! Get the fuck off her and get out of here now before I beat the shit out of you!"

Conner exclaimed coming out of nowhere. He yanked him by ear and got him out.

Suddenly Alexa came rushing out. "What happened?! I heard a commotion!" At this point it was no use holding it in it all just came crashing down.

I threw myself into Conner's arms, burying my embarrassed self into his tall complexion. "Are you okay?" He softly asked me and I shook my head as a respond.

"I caught that moron Derek choking her."

"What?! What the hell is wrong with him?!" I was so glad Conner came to my rescue, I don't know what would've happened if he didn't see me in time. I'm so thankful for him.

"Come here." She wrapped her arms around me. All I could think of was how they were my true family.

Ive come to realize my true destiny was more and more suffering every day. Some things never change...
