Chapter 1
"Come on Aiden!!" I call to my brother. "We're going to be late for church!" Our parents died in a car accident last year, so my brother lives with me now. My parents were both drunk, like they were all the time, and they were stupid enough to be driving home. Luckily no one else was hurt in the accident, but both my parents were killed.
Me and Aiden didnt know them well, because they were always away, and when they were actually home, they were drunk most of the time. It was still really sad when we found out they died though, because even though they were never really there for us, they were our parents.
"One second Ciara! Patience!" he calls back. I roll my eyes. Aiden and I get on really well, we usually never fight, mostly just playful bickering. Aiden finally comes down the stairs and slips his shoes on. we walk out the door and get in my yellow punch buggie.
Aiden hates it, he thinks its ugly, but I find her quite adorable! I even named her Daisy! I start the car and back out of the driveway, and start heading to church. we go to a small non denominational christian church called Riverside.
I turn on the radio and my favorite song is on, Hot and Cold by Katy Perry. "ooh this is my jam!!" i yell and turn up the volume. Aiden just rolls his eyes, but hes smiling. "YOURE HOT AND YOURE COLD! YOURE YES THAN YOURE NO! YOURE IN THEN YOURE OUT! YOURE UP THEN YOURE DOWN!" i belt out.
Soon I find Aiden singing along with me "YOUR'E WRONG WHEN ITS RIGHT! IT"S BLACK AND IT"S WHITE! WE FIGHT WE BREAK UP! WE KISS WE MAKE UP!" we sing/shout together, completely off key. "YOU! YOU DONT REALLY WANNA STAY! NO!" i sing while looking over at him and grinning.
He grins back at me, then looks forward to the road, and I see his face change in a split second from fun, happy and light hearted, to horrifed, then suddenly a hard impact hits the car and I'm flying forward, glass is breaking, and there's blood everywhere, and thats when I black out.
