I decided to walk back home. It seemed like a good idea to have some time to think about everything that happened today. Quite a handful. If I must say.
The 'gang' wanted to join me too, but I was not even a little bit interested in re-narrating the entire incident to them. Again.
Calling them 'gang' kind of made us sound cool. I thought. Which is farfetched from the truth as I know it.
The lane was completely empty and out of boredom, I started walking on the line between two lateral slabs on the pavement. If only my life was this straight. Relatable stuff always get me.
It's like my way of making myself feel better by relating to every other thing I see.Skye had made me tell her everything. Literally. She has a knack for being a control freak. All-the-time.
"You are really effed-up!" She said after she heard the whole story. Just the reaction I was expecting from her.
"Yeah, I know. But I have no choice. Its either this or Mr.Garcia will call my parents and that could be worse" my mom was of that kind. And dad , well he is out of state. He is in the army so we get less of him in our lives as much as we would want. But other than mom, he cooler , way cooler. That the inverse of father-son ratio but there is no arguing that anyway. Maybe he was home more often, I wouldn't have been the way I am, maybe I would be a kickass popular kid. Might even be in the football team. Hypothetically of course. Who knows!
"Even worse than your nose getting broken?" she put her index finger on her nose. And scrunched her nose.
"It not funny, ok?" I glanced at her. She looked cute.
She giggled." Just kidding"she said.
"Are you still up for the movie?" I am positively sure she made a puppy face. It was hard to tell. But, it did work.
"Yeah, I could use some distraction. Especially now!" From the corner of my eyes, I could see her smiling from ear to ear.
"Okay, " she said trying to mask her innate excitement.
"Okay then, I will see you later," I said.
"Wait. Aren't you taking the bus?" she asked as we reached the entrance.
"Actually, I feel like walking. You know, to clear my head" we started walking down the stairs.
"I can join you if you want!" she exclaimed.
"But Skye. You live in the opposite direction" I looked at her. She seemed embarrassed.
"Oh yeah, hehe" she tried hiding her face which I am sure was crimson.
"It's ok. I want some alone time. I will see you later" I said and started walking.
"Okay then. See ya!" she said.
I took a turn and the sun was in front of me. Still walking the line. I hoped no one saw me putting one foot in front of the other like a little kid.
But that was the least reason to worry about right now. I had a greater problem(s) at hand to think about.
Stan was onto me. And I felt like right now he was making a meticulous plan on how he will rip every bodypart off of my body when he sees me.
Oh god!
Maybe I should not think about that. Maybe I should think about something else. I thought.
Sarah? Was she really crying today?
It seemed like it. But I was not that sure.
Probably a fight with her boyfriend...Now that I think about it. I felt like it was her fault. If she hadn't been doodling then I wouldn't have been distracted and all this mess wouldn't have happened. And now I am blaming her. Great...
