I rubbed my fingers over the strange markings on the key. The end of it looked like a circle with 8 arrows pointing out in all different directions. The other end looked like a 19th century metal key. It was about 6 inches, maybe. I hadn't measured it. Then I felt a tiny rush of air.

"Come on in, Joey." I said. Joey has been my best friend since 1st grade. He's 17. Our birthdays are only a week apart, his being first. He has short, wavy brown hair, brown eyes, and a light tan and he's like 6 feet tall.

"How did you know?!" Joey asked, incredulously.

"Remember? I was blind since birth. I still notice the slightest air difference. Like you opening that door."

"Whatever," Joey grumbled. "Anyways, wanna go to the Rec?" The Rec is the best thing that's happened to Crystal Falls, Oregon since the Sky Zone theme park opened up in 1995. It has a trampoline park, a couple swimming pools, an adult gym and a kids gym, a rock climbing area and a food court. Teenagers 16 and above can get summer jobs here. It's extremely awesome. It's actually called something like "The Recreational Hall Of Crystal Falls, Built and Sponsored by Cliff Rockwold." But everyone calls it the Rec. Cliff Rockwold is a famous movie star from Crystal Falls. Everyone thinks he's so great. I mean, sure, he does donate a lot to charities and orphanages and helps fund stuff like the Rec, but personally I think he's really stuck-up and snotty and only does this stuff to help his public image. But he built the Rec, so I'm not complaining. Sort of...

"Sure let's go." I told Joey. We got our bikes then started off to the Rec. Almost any place you would want to go to is in biking distance of the housing neighborhood. Crystal Falls is a pretty small town. It's really pretty and sometimes tourists stop to see the actual waterfalls, but they don't really care to stay here or want to live here. Which is fine by me because I like most people in this town and I know almost all of them by name.

We arrived and set our bikes by the door. We don't have to lock them up because we have the absolute lowest crime rate in the world. I can't remember anyone committing a crime in this town in as long as I've lived. It's probably the safest town on Earth.

We walked in through the front doors. Tony, the guy who works at the front desk, waved us on through. Tony's a really cool guy. He's 19 and is the coolest adult I know. He hooks us up with snacks, drinks, and all the deals. Next summer we can work here. It will be the best summer job ever. We get a bunch of deals on snacks, drinks, and we get discounts on passes for getting in.

The Rec is huge, in case you didn't guess. I'm so glad I can see all of it now.
