Through the dark soul
It began long ago, when they looked for light
Only to find out, it had been captured by the darkness
Searching for brightness, they walked in gloom
Fumbling so blindly, as if destined to their doom
Rolling down her face, tears of a desparate mother,
Who has lost her many children, to a cause
Their lives they've risked, for a war not of their own,
Through the dark ages, prey to sufferance and hunger
Vividly they fought for a world that would not exist
Leaving her, who thought the world of them, behind
At the mercy of the ruthless, selfish arrogant men
Who seeked in her, nothing but sinful worldly pleasures
While the battle cries of her sons raged on
While the wars of the king were won and lost
The pleading cries of the mother drowned, unheard
No ballad sang of her.
She fought for her own cause,
Doomed by the darkness.
She lost.
The darkened soul.
