Between Us
She said, 'today'
Checks message again
The time is the same
It has not changed ...
Nothing to say ...
Hands on wheels give ...a...Shove
Moving down ramp
Calloused hands
break ...slow down
And wheel down the lane
Uneven lane
but most things are
Life's uneven
Honeysuckle mixed with carbon
Nearer exhausts than the trees
To cross the roads horrendous
Someone's parked on the crossing and they won't see me
Calmly
Slowly edge out
Then Push Push
Push Push
I hope she's there
She'd better be there
Push Push
Push Push
Don't let me down
Heart pounding' ....
catch breath...
Slower,
Plenty of time
Incline
So tired
Last energy expired
At the spot and waits for you
And waits for you
......................
Swaddled in dusty, brown paper and tied with twine.
I know what lies within the frame.
The time has come too quickly
- as races the dawn -
Through night's dark and misty gloom.
He waits.
I stand at the top of the plum-lined lane,
And i see his silhouette, bent awkwardly...painfully...
In front of the swirl of new sun,
Between us, years of regret
Fight for survival
Midst a flurry of blossoms
That swirl and crash.
Between us.
........................
Silhouette shadow turns into
Her
Have you got it?
Scrunched note....
Here,
Have it ....
Grasping
brown paper package
....................
Between us.
